Great start with all 'eries' in the opening paragraph.
All this gorgeous food you've described so enticingly, glad I've already eaten.A really cheery chapter this one Tony, a delightful read,
cheers,

Browsing around these Paris food markets is a mouth-watering business! There is music in the French names, too!

Another very good instalment here. Attention to detail is excellent and the dialogue zings between the pair.

Weaving in and out of the traffic with all the dexterity of a sweatshop seamstress, - nice analogy.

Tony,

Well...I was right. I HAD read at least one chapter out of order. But I'm still not sure I'm quite caught up - still too many questions. I'll have to check one more. Everything looked good - just a little bland - (sorry!) not much happening.

Thanks!

You are right, Robyn. The pace has slowed a bit here. No doubt it will pick up again soon! I hope so, anyway.

This is delightful, Tony, I could read your prose all day long and not get tired of it.

I noticed a few errors where you dropped the first person perspective. "Let's go!" she said, dragging him (me) by the elbow into the nearest boulangerie.

After some discussion with the cheesemonger, they (we) chose a soft goat's milk cheese with an earthy flavour.

"Then you must eat cake!" she laughed, parodying Marie Antoinette's famous saying as they (we) entered La PĂ¢tisserie des RĂȘves.

I wish I was there myself, sampling the bread and cheese, chocolates and cake. The dynamics between the two characters is lively and interesting. You're a great storyteller!

Thanks very much for picking up those errors, Carol. When I was writing Chapter 7, I realised that, in a brain-dead moment, I'd slipped into the third person for the whole of Chapter 6. I went back to amend it yesterday, but obviously missed a few! All now fixed, I hope!

Hi Tony this is a delightful chapter where go shopping for the picnic. You describe the shops and food to perfection. Great imagery. I also liked the scene with her crazy driving. Very good analogy to Thailand. They do drive with a death wish. I'm looking forward to reading on. All the best. Ulla:))

Thanks very much, Ulla. More crazy driving to come in Chapter 7! I know that Thailand is listed as one of the most dangerous places in the world for driving. Not sure how far behind Paris is, but some of the cab drivers seem to have a death wish!

Tony, you know I don't usually review long pieces, chapters of books etc. However, your eloquent writing is always a six star event for me. I was drawn to the French connection, and if I remember correctly the Scarlet letter is not a good thing. I am always in awe of whatever literary genius penning you produce.
Hugs, Trisha

I'm honoured that you should be making an exception to read my story, Trisha - also that you thought fit to award this chapter six stars. I couldn't wish for greater affirmation! Many thanks!

These two are having a great time and I am enjoying the ride. I felt like I was in the car and in the shops with them. That's a good thing. Your writing made me part of the scene. Thank you.

Hello Tony,
Your chapters are being written faster than the pace of a Thai driver.
This is an excellent chapter that moves along nicely.
While the parody of "Let them eat cake" fits the story perfectly,
it is likely Marie never uttered the phrase. lol
Be that as it may, your description of the various foods is scrumptious.
The picnic awaits...
Well done
Robert

I expect you're right about Marie Antoinette, but it was good propaganda for the supporters of the revolution! Fake news!! I'm beginning to get involved in this in a way I hadn't expected. I have to keep the story running because I'm interested to see what happens next, I'm now beginning to get a clearer idea of where it might be heading.

-I like the image and the chapter, Tony.
-You capture the flavor of the pĂ¢tisseries
very well, especially the description
of the "decadent" Financier cake.
-The inclusion of the dialogue
about Marie Antoinette also adds
to the whole discussion of food and cake,
as well as prompting Charles to comment
on la guillotine!
-Helen's response to that is quite intriguing.
-You developed this chapter with an
excellent, natural flow of ideas.
-Please accept a virtual six on this one.

What a delightful story to read!

I didn't find a single word to critique, let alone a sentence. You have a fabulous style of writing that appeals to the reader, who, right now, is feeling famished after reading about all the eclaires and cheeses!

I regret having missed the beginning of the stor. But I'm sure to follow it from here.
