Hi, Craig,

A great new word, and a wonderful poem, to remind us of the importance of that little encouragement to the ones we love. Every once in a while, I will still slip a little love note into my husband's pocket, so he will come across it during his day.

Those little notes are part of the cement that keeps us together,

~patty~

What a terrific idea, Patty. I'm sure it must make his day. I would give it a try myself, except I'm fairly sure her response on finding it would be, "OK -- what have you done NOW?" ;-)

Many thanks for the lovely review.

LOL - yes, you do run that risk. I know every once in a while, he will look at me, and ask that very same question.

Hi Craig, yes that word made a lot of sense to me. I knew immediately what it meant. Diminutives like this is used all the time in Spanish, and it makes a lot of sense. You've composed a great poem around the word. All the best. Ulla:))

Thanks very much, Ulla. It's one of the few where I was able to intuit a meaning without having heard it before. Cheers, Craig

This is a very nice poem, Craig. Is it a sonnet? I like everything about it--presentation, content, rhyming and flow. Lettering is a very good word. It applies to the script and also to sending a letter. Marilyn

A poem I can easily relate to. More than the note or the sense of crunch where I can't touch base with all those who I enjoy touching base with... family, friends, correspondances... even my imaginary people... I wonder how to fill the gaps between. Even when I go to type out a text, I tend to just stare at the phone trying to come up with something not lame.

Strong use of presentation too, with the format of this poem having a letter-like feel.

Really enjoyed the flow and theme of this poem.

I hope your imaginary people don't get too narky with you, Turtle. I'm sure they realise you have your hands full. Thanks for the lovely comments :) Craig

The other day, I got very excited about a concept I want to work out for some writing. Started talking to my mom about it, and three hours later, she dove into her car and drove away. I've gotten no letterlings from her since.

A beautiful sonnet friend, Craig. Each word carefully selected to sing the meaning and importance of finding the time or should I say making the time to keep in touch with those people who are so important to us, because they won't be there forever.

A lovely sonnet in perfect metre and rhyme (except for the odd Stralian one) lol.

Very nicely done.

Gloria

Gloria, I'm afraid I'm finding it difficult to contain my disappointment. As a well-educated woman of the world, I felt sure you would know it's "Strayan"! And you pick me up on MY pronunciation - geesh!

All joking aside, thanks for the lovely review, and the wonderful rating. Both are very gratefully received. Craig

What a great entry this is! Great form and rhythm and packaged neatly with an important massage...Great j ob! :) :) Kind of one of those words, though, that defies logic: supposed to denote the shorter version of something but itself is longer....lol! :) ;)

Thank you for sharing! :)

LOL - a bit like "abbreviation" - ever wondered why that's such a long word? Many thanks for the lovely review, Craig

A very well-written poem about writing letters to loved ones who are not nearby. Those days were still good days and we who knows how we wrote letters to communicate. Today we communicate more by sms, email, sms, or skype these days.

Yes, or wander around with our heads buried in our "devices", ignoring everyone. Many thanks, Sandra.

The word letterling makes a lot of sense. Sounds German or Teutonic in origin. Nicely written with your usual meticulous attention to meter and rhyme. I am assuming the mother is still alive and waiting to hear from her son. Thank you for sharing

This is lovely. Your rhymes all work well, and your poem flows very smoothly. Loveliest, of course, is the love this expresses for your mother. Yes, we all have many more to do than we have hours in the day to do them but, at the end of the day, nothing's more important than family. Thanks for the reminder.

Beautiful and well said. How oft do we let things slip by us as the time rushes by as well. I find your poem endearing. The love you feel for your mother is well expressed in this poem.
