Sadness and grief sometimes walk and in glove down the same road. At once the heart has been broken it's very hard to mend. My prayers are for you and with you during these breathing times and I do wish that you could ditch it and leave it behind the sadness that grips your heart today

This was a hard write. I have found it soothing to share my thoughts and feelings as I travel the journey to heal a broken heart. Thank you for reading and the kind comments.
Have a safe 4th of July.

The repetition of the words sadness and ditch is a combination of hopelessness and hope. It invokes a feeling of anxiety that can only be overcome through passing sad thoughts. Very well constructed.

Thank you for sharing this poem with us! This is a truly sad poem, and the repetition of the word "Sadness" greatly conveys that atmosphere to the reader. Thus, this becomes an impactful poem, an emotion that traps us all. Good work!

This is great advice. The only way to overcome sorrow in your life is to ditch it. This should do well in the contest. I like to enter contests. They force me to write about new things.

I think you handled this writing prompt well. I find writing is my therapy. It helped me find my way through a very difficult time a while back.
Best wishes to you in this contest. Keep writing to us.

I am sorry for your tragic loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you. I truly appreciate you sharing this poem. It is so very well said and the repetitive Ditch It lines are very effective. Still, last two lines share that you still mourn and sadness remains. Wishing you happier days ahead and best wishes in the contest. God Bless! - Cathy

You have a vivid use of words that well captures the feeling of sadness. I like the free verse form and your column structure impacts the emotions in your words. I am sorry for your loss.

Hello Author
You abstract drawing of Jesus really got to me
Than I read the contest requirements for you to follow and your poem of how you your self did ditch all of them on account of your strong Faith in Jesus.

Dear Anonymous Poet,
Thank you for sharing your heart-wrenching poem about dealing with the loss of your daughter. May God be with you at this horrible time and may you find ways to maneuver through the grief and continue to live.
This poem reflects the fight to get through and the repeating 'ditch it' helps to propel the battle.
May you continue to fight and find ways to cope.
Good luck in the contest, but I think just writing the poem shows you are already a winner,
