You might want to check your word count. When I ran the story through MsWord, it came out 503 words. If you hyphenate twelve-inch, that will make it correctly one word, but contest has an "UNDER 500 words" in the sponsor's rules. Needs a slight trim.

This is a solid entry to this contest as the action never stops from start to finish. I like that you focused on one scene as the mercenary accomplished his mission. Another plus is that it is easy to visualize each stage in the action. The character is your stock action hero, but who cares. Good job!
