You've used this unusual word very well Craig with your poem about our 'land of milk and honey' that may not be so for much long. Love the -solve a three-pipe problem with a one-pipe brain - I think that could apply to a lot of things. Nice one,
cheers.

So true, Craig. The saying you refer to is familiar to me as my husband was in construction (not a plumber) and I'd heard him use that term a few times. Thanks for the memory. Good term. An excellent poem on saving our earth or trying to, anyway. Marilyn

I think it's human nature for most people not to do anything until hit with a crisis.

Bravo!
What a timely and well-crafted verse. Unfortunately, there are a plethora of "one-pipe brains" everywhere in our world today. From the neighbor who rides his all-terrain vehicle through protected lands to the politician who sells his soul for private gain. Everywhere. And your message is profound.

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the lovely comments, Diane. Yes, one-pipe brains seem to be prevalent, unfortunately. As a species, I don't think we're up to the task. Cheers, Craig

Terrific bit of satire here, Craig. It's so strange we wouldn't dream of treating our own houses with such disregard, and pump the exhaust from our vehicles into the house, or fill our water tanks with toxic chemicals and yet we think the planet is just a great big garbage dump and that it's so big our trash can be absorbed. Utter nonsense of course, and sadly scientists who know the truth were paid off the lie, and so they did. They should be ashamed of themselves, but that's what happens with a one-pipe brain.

Love the new word and many thanks for the share.

Gloria

Love the humor in your last line - yes, we seem to be approaching the ecological problem with a one-pipe brain and no one is willing to consider the other side and work together. Fun word and good to know the connection to Conan Doyle's story.

I totally agree with your statement, your poem was wonderfully written and had a nice smooth flow to it, it wasn't long but not to short, just right to make it most enjoyable

A three-pipe problem. My uncle used a pipe I loved the smell and to watch him tamp it down and the swift inhales to get it working just right. I love this poem and wish I had a six. I also wish we could go back in time to pipes and wait...world war one ,two, Hitler, Napoleon, Stalin...maybe we have always lived in a three pipe problem world but tried to solve them with a one piece plan
God bless

I suspect you're right, Jenny. We're not up to the job we've taken upon ourselves. Many thanks, Craig

I commend you on this amalgamation. If only climate-change was a mere three-pipe problem. Even Sherlock couldn't solve this problem. There is no mystery to solve. Mankind is willfully self-destructing in the confidence that future generations will be able to straighten it all out. In my view, negligent hubris.

Thanks for sounding the clarion.

Peace, Lee

I suppose the "mystery" is how deep we can dig the hole before we can't get out of it. I really think we're on the brink of passing that point, if we haven't done so already. Many thanks for the very kind and thoughtful review, Lee.

A very well-written poem about the problems we caused on earth that seem irreversible by our own hands. God told Adam to take care of the animals and the land but we thought we can use and abuse as much as we like.

Hi, Craig;

Very ingenious way to get that word in. When I read the title of your poem, I scratched my head. However, you managed to sum up the lines of the piece well. In other words, we need to employ ALL of our brains to this mess and quit ignoring the planet's cries. Global Warming is REAL!!!

Yes we do, Patty. Unless we want the only place our great-grand-children to see trees or wildlife to be in books, or for them to be living under a dome to provide them with breathable air. Many thanks, Craig
