Cute 5-7-5, Craig.

Packages the essence of the fight between the nature of ridiculous, with the nature of human need to pontificate. As per statute... bla bla bla, I hereby decree that this water debris barrier violates bla bla bla.

Amusing in concept, as you might imagine two beady-eyed beavers looking at the structure with nature's innocence.

Kind of makes me think of Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's guide, and the whole planet in the way for an intergalactic highway... If the beavers were paying attention, I'm pretty sure it was posted, no dams... in the same place the permit to run over the planet had been.

Haha. Thanks for an amusing review, Turtle. I'm a big Douglas Adams fan. Our capacity for stupidity never ceases to amaze. Most grateful, Craig

I bet someone was embarrassed over this one, or should have been. I like your clever use of pretty dam funny to finish off this well thought out 5-7-5 poem about this busy little beavers.
cheers,
valda

Ha, what a hoot, and most especially that the officials couldn't tell just by looking at the dam that is was built by some busy beavers. That's really funny, that said, I'd be their lawyer.

Sometimes bureaucrats aren't the brightest knives on the Christmas tree.

Great good damn fun. :)

Hi Craig,

This is funny :) Did they actually fine the landowners? That's crazy. I should think the animals should be protected to do the thing they do. Sounds like an easy way to get extra tax money.

Joy xx

In the end, no fines were issued. They (the state department) would have looked even more stupid if they did, I think. Thanks for reviewing, Joy :)

That is a pretty funny story, Craig! "Dam hilarious" in fact! Love your pun with "Dam". Oh, those dam public officials! You've got me chuckling with this write, and I now know another new word ... 'rampire'. Thanks for sharing it, via this fun 5-7-5 poem, Craig! ~~ Connie

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem. There is not much we can do to stop beavers building dam walls when they decide to build a wall where they think is the right place.

Apparently the beavers aren't aware of the government restrictions, Sandra! Many thanks, Craig

Rampire - what a funny word! Pretty DAM funny. Fun pun. No nits. A fine funny three liner. Good presentation. Good alliteraiton of B and M and consonance of M as well as T.

Warmly, rd

Oh, yea! Another page from the book of linguistic curiosities. I intend to become a fan so that I don't miss a single poem inspired by this book. I should have done it already. I could not click on the web page that you referenced, but I wrote it down. I will read the land owners comments later today. You have spiked my interest. I do love how you think.

the dam was built by beavers? I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
You're right about those officials - sometimes they take things too
personally, as if it really was a matter that affects their own well-being
or something.

For more laughter and above all for information, I'll go and have a look
at the link you've provided.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Craig. Your 5-7-5 is 'dam hilarious.' I remember this absurdity very well. It makes one wonder the about the sanity of some eager electeds to money grab, especially here in the states where a puddle can be classified as a pond and taxed and/or fined. It sounds like a 'city boy' made the judgment call that the beaver dam was a construction. I've learned a new word--'rampire.' Your Christmas gift is providing your readers lots of entertainment. Thanks very much, Marilyn. It certainly caused a couple of officials to wind up with egg on their face, I think. Much appreciated - Craig
