Hello Pamusart,
Incredibly sobering and poignant. How horrible to have been in a relationship the like of which you describe for even a short time - let alone a lifetime. As you know, my husband and I will be married 39 years this June. I am still learning new things about him. That's what's made our lives together one "heck of a ride."
A solid message in your well-crafted poem. Thank you for sharing!

Your verse of a widow not really knowing the man she was married to is clear and well written. Nicely rhymed and well told.

The last two lines of this are truly magnificent. Which would one rather find clues to a life you had never been able to share with him or, like your widow here, a void, nothing no excitement just the 8.10 into the city and the 6.15 out of it five days a week fifty weeks a year. I don't suppose he had time for a life of thrills.

Comment from Gloria ....
Perfectly written, Pam about a life of a woman married to man who devoted his entire energy to work and making money. So sad that he died before he ever got to change gears. Mind you, that might well have been his demise anyway.
Good questions about really knowing people. I suppose it's how willing people are to be deeply intimate.
Excellent poem in beautiful form. :)

Hello Pamusart, your poem is a sad story that's heard too often.
Of special note:
He left her rich beyond her dreams
He left her nothing else, it seems
(No memories, no laughter, just riches ... chances are ...
she was in it for the money from the beginning.)
Terrific artwork choice -- the widow wears red. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

A thought provoking write; reminds me of the Beatle's song, "I don't care for money, money can't buy me love."- The verse flows great in lovely rhyming;thanks for treat.

Thank you, ameen786 for your lovely teview and high rating. I remember when that song first came out. Money also can?t buy compassion, sympathy or empathy
Comment from Jeffrey L. Michaux
This is a really good thought provoking poem. It does pose the question, do we really truly know those we're with? Some do lead double lives and others blame one for cheating to deflect what truly is going on off of them. So many stories about love lost because of to much work. To what end though? We can't take one penny to the grave with us. Thanks for sharing this beautifully written poem. I like it! Well done.

Thank you, Jen very much for complimenting the art work. It is called Bridesmaid. She is sad. She used to be in love with the groom. I thought her expression went well for the poem. Thank you also for your nice comments, lovely review and high rating

Great flow and rhyme in this thought provoking piece of work. That old inheritance isn't everything and sometimes our realizations of that are too late I guess. Great read.
