Craig,
There is so much to like here. The peaceful feeling of sitting around the fire with some guitars sipping tea with a nod to Joni Mitchell, the welcoming invitation that anyone can join, and the escape from all of the excessive technology of our days. The poem took me to that place for a month moment:)

Sitting around a campfire would have been my idea of fun years ago, I prefer my home comforts too much nowadays, but you lit the fire here and brought back all those memories of my youth, the singing and the simple pleasures of life, love Dolly x

It does a person good to get away from those creature comforts once in a while, methinks. Many thanks Dolly :)

Ride that bull partner. This write has that up and down occurrence of a bull rider being tossed, poetic line structuring makes this write pleasant to read. A slight sway of intensity during its read course. All in my opinion.

This is an awesome little poem. I love the simplicity and serenity of the life that it describes. Man has ruined many a natural habitat. So peaceful and beautiful out there. I really enjoyed reading this. The artwork is a nice touch and compliments this poem well. Well done.

I enjoyed reading this excellent poem. I like best the last stanza which reads,"our thoughts return to life at home, but here in nature's astrodome, the feeling gripping us is strong, this is the place where we belong". Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done with this poem. The word choices are soothing and invite the reader to share in a sense of relaxation, a stop and put down your technology, appreciate the amazing things nature has to provide that's unfortunately lost to the masses of infrastructure, and a lotta noise. A pleasing read.

we are at peace, our souls set free.
(The starting of this poem, instantly the rhymes caught my interest, also started with a strong, peaceful tone.)

"Is this the life?" -- no need to ask.
(Ah, a simpler way. Communing with nature and the clicks away from stress that it provides. I think of the withdrawls of being away from one's internet)

that modern life's just too intense?
(Hmm. I'm on the line myself. I just wish we could find a better harmony between nature and technology.)

strike up a match and watch it burn.
(Very soothing flow, and the words calming, inviting. It does make me yearn for a simpler scene, one more natural, and a different kind of stress--mainly in if injury occurs)

this is the place where we belong.
(love the gentle imagery and sense of comradarie with those around the fire as well as the nature too.)

Many thanks for the wonderful review, Turtle. I probably don't need to say that camping is one of my most fun things to do. It's also something I haven't done in way too long. Makes me want to pack up a few things, throw the dogs in the back (and the woman in the front) and head off now. Your kindness never goes unappreciated - Craig

This is a well written poem about relaxing by the fire. I enjoyed reading it! What a great idea to write a poem based on the word of the day.

Great word sonrock and very apt as the seat closest to the fire would feel like a hotrock.Loved ths Craig, brought back many memories of sitting around the campfire, the tents in the background, the kids playing murder in the dark. I wish I had a 6 for you,
cheers,
valda

Ah, you've made me want to pack up and head out for the weekend. Not so easy just to throw the dogs in the back and head off now, unfortunately. Many thanks for the lovely review and virtual six, Valda. Cheers, Craig

Hi Craig,

I'd love to sit on a sonrock by the fire. I'm happy to listen to Joni Mitchell while I write this review. I enjoyed your lovely rhythmic lines. Excellent aabb rhyme scheme. You're showing off your poetic talent in this one, my friend :)

Joy xx

This is a lovely poem. Makes me want to just lean back and relax. Great rhyme and meter and great subject matter. I'm not very techie so don't have a lot of electronics, don't even have a smart phone, we call it the dumb phone. So I'm not very plugged in. Great poem. Roxanna
