Great job on this limerick. Using a family-friendly illustration probably was a wise choice. My grandsons don't like dolls and do find them scary. I guess those two dolls--Chucky and Annabelle deserve each other. Let's hope they don't reproduce. Marilyn

I didn't know the British call dolls poppins. I keep learning nee things from you, Craig :)

I'm not a fan of Chuckie or Annabelle. I don't enjoy or watch many horror movies. After reading about Jack Nicholson in the hotel movie, I vowed never again. So thanks for the picture of Barbie's pretty blue eyes.

I'm not much of a fan of horror movies either, Joy, believe it or not. My other half, however is a massive horror flick junkie lol - but she can't stand "chick flicks"! Thanks for reviewing - Craig

Your Chucky limerick made me chuckle and boy, what a pair these two would be. Nightmares would abound. You've got good flow with your limerick, and personally, I find that difficult to do. Enjoyed this one Craig

And yes, another fantastically well constructed and funny Limerick, Craig. Those Chucky movies could be scary if you're afraid of dolls, but I usually fell asleep halfway through, so I have no idea how they even ended. Is Barbie actually 58? So where is Senior Barbie, Hmmm?

Great job in perfect form!

Gloria

LOL Senior Barbie was meant to put in an appearance, Gloria, but she forgot. Many thanks :) Craig

Hi Craig. You do the unusual so well and this is a great Limerick. It should be in that Limerick contest going on just now. Barbie was Chucky's side girlfriend. didn't you know that mate? lol Nice one! xoxo deborah

I didn't even know there was one. Did I enter? lol

Chuckie & Barbie? Poor Ken, no wonder he ran off with Brian!

    Many thanks, Deborah :)

I think you've done well with the amusing limerick about Chucky. I've never heard of a poppin, but I have heard of poppet, which might be the same thing, although a poppet is supposed to be a voodoo doll. As for the image, I think the close-up of Barbie is a bit scary itself!

This speaks how an innocent and ignorant Chucky thought him lucky to have his girlfriend but later he found it was unlucky to make any deal with her; well written, well done. B A CHANGE INSPIRER-WRITER -- DR ALCREATOR

Craig,
Some scary looking dolls you describe so well. I think I will pass owning one. Good job on the limerick style. You have a knack for writing limericks. Thanks for sharing. Jan

A very well-written scary poem about the two most well-known haunted dolls. Many people are very scared of dolls in General because of Chucky and Annabelle.

Thanks so much, Sandra. I certainly wouldn't feel at ease if I woke up and found one or the other of them sitting on the end of the bed! Cheers, Craig

Ha!

I remember those movies pretty well. Though his girlfriend's name wasn't one that stuck in my memory.

The only thing I'd suggest for mild consideration:

Chucky was handsome? I'd think devilish... or dastard or wicked... vile?) Though I know that the name Chucky carries enough of all those adjective tones.

My brother used to have a my buddy poppin. We were pretty much terrified of the thing. As a joke, my mom bought him a new my buddy in the package when he was like 20 or something, for christmas. He hid it somewhere. I don't even know where, come to think of it. Still a toy that is hard to have laying around. : p

    Hi Turtle,

Annabelle wasn't Chucky's girl in the movies, that was a bit of poetic licence on my part. I thought pairing them up might be fun. Chucky was in the Child's Play series, and Anabelle was in The Conjuring, before branching out in a series of her own.

Chucky might have been handsome to Annabelle :)

I wonder if your brother hid the poppin in your basement or attic? Just thought I'd mention that before you go to bed - sweet dreams! haha

Many thanks for the great review - Craig
