Hi TRIESCHEL,
What a great poem for women awareness day, and what a great sulpture. I think you have used your descriptive imagination perfectly for this and you might have even inspired me to write about a female patriot.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Thank you for being inspired by another Park statue to create an ekphrastic Amphion. I am delighted to learn there were female patriots in '75! I admired your memorializing the fact and your rhymes. Big cheers- Joan

A great poem to be reading on International Women's Day. We had a similar heroine in Canada - Laura Secord. She warned that the American's were coming.
War of 1812. Unsung in her lifetime, she has become an icon of Canadian patriotism.
Watch your tenses - you are speaking past tense,
as war ensues [ensued]
Hugs

Thank you Rose. Timing was just a happy coincidence. Good to hear from you. You are right about tensew, but then it wouldn't rhyme, so I claim writer's license. I hope you write about that Canadian Woman. You could even use my picture if you want. . .

Perhaps. I know little about her, other than that she saved the day, and the battle was won (our side)

Lovely sculpture. This is an interesting poetry form. You've captured the feel of the statue perfectly. I can feel the action in it.
I wrote a Pastiche for one of Jim's classes how Revere didn't make that ride exactly as we've been told. You are right. So many people rode out, but only he is remembered.

Thank you Yvonne, I often find that history has many gaps, misconceptions, and omissions. Glad you liked the sculpture, and the nod to a forgotten woman.

Now see, I was not aware of that Tom.
I thought old Paul was a real Hero only
to discover he was one of many. What an
interesting statue, and story. Well done.
Nice form, great meter. Nancy

Thank you Nancy. I often find that history has many gaps, misconceptions, and omissions. Then again, Longfellow wasn't there at the time. Glad you liked the sculpture, and the nod to a forgotten woman.

Very well done and an interesting subject. We have forgotten more history then we should, though I don't remember studying about any women going on midnight rides. We are rewriting our history everyday and so much isn't even taught anymore. Kids today don't even know anything about the Civil War. It's sad. Anyway very well done. Roxanna

Thank you Roxanna. I often find that history has many gaps, misconceptions, and omissions. Glad you liked the sculpture, and the nod to a forgotten woman. Civil War? How about WWII, Korea, Viet Nam. It amazing what they aren't taught anymore.

Well, it was a long time ago and bygones are bygones, at least for the time being. The rhythms here actually work really well, surprisingly I thought in a poem as short as this and with the statue there before my eyes itwas all quite an experience.

Thank you Pantygynt. I thought you might comment that it looks like she lost her bra and is just wearing a diaper! LOL. Must have been in a hurry.

No. I did think of that but resisted the temptation having made a sartorial comment last time.

What an amazing statue and captivating tale.
I can see where your inspiration sparked from.
This is an interesting style which is also new to me.
You have mastered the style as far as I can tell.

LOL, Tom, us British are at this moment celebrating all brave women around the world that have been long forgotten in history. I'll be writing about one soon, too. I love this poem and the lovely photo you took and was inspired by. Always a pleasure my friend, to read your poetry. Big hugs. Sandra xxx
