Yes, I think that Vietnam was an aberration, not for the poor boys who fought and died there, for what? We were interfering with what was a essentially and civil war. Well done, you've done an exceptional job with this Pamela, in rhyming couplets, well done, blessings, Roy

Thank you, Roy. It was your poem with the same sentiments that prompted me to move this one to the front of the line. I appreciate your nice words and high rating

This poem has excellent flow and rhythm, but I did not value it's true worth until I read the last two lines. This poem has a good message, but what I enjoyed was that it's meaning snuck up on you and took you by surprise.

I agree with this sentiment, you expressed so well in this excellent rhyming Poem. The painting you paired it with is wonderful and fits perfectly. What those in power don't understand is that the opposite side in war have families and mothers who also grieve. Thanks for sharing.

A very well-written poem. We are making war for many years and no one has any idea why they have to kill others. It is usually leaders that decide they want more power over another nation which soldiers must sacrifice their lives because they are willing to serve their country.

Compassion means to have both sympathy as well as empathy; alas, our leaders don't have either when they send young boys/girls to war; profound reflections in wonderfully phrased couplets and excellent rhymes; thank you for sharing.

Beautiful! I know that I was disposable, and a bullet packing rifle (weapon) carrying fool, who should have known better to disagree with those in hand. You wrote this tough subject poem with sensitivity and grace young lady. I am proud of you.you would have been good to have in the fox hole along my side. Tony

Thank you, Tony for your nice review and rating. You are the second military veteran who has said I would be good in the foxhole. If we support each other, a lot of good things will happen. Take care

Beautiful artwork and poetry. I suspect most wars are fought over greed -- either wealth or power. Yet the brave men and women who fight for the people are heroes who are not recognized for their sacrifice and also bear the blame for wicked leaders.

Exactly, June. Thank you so much for understanding this poem. I know lots of vietnam vets with vacant stares. Their bodies came back, but they really did not. They suffer from PTSD. It was not a diagnosis back then. They were totally broken. All were anti-war. Thank you again.

I went to a lecture at my local library on Women Viet Nam Veterans. It was led by a nurse who served there. There is also a book available on Amazon by that name.

Hello
I like how you used your couplets to tell us when we look person that was it the Armed Forces is now a farmer
( reminds me to this quote)

Agriculture for an honorable and highminded man, is the best of all occupations or arts by which men procure the means of living.

Gert
