What an extraordinary sculpture you photographed! And I admired the form you selected as your vehicle to capture the essence of the image. Your introspection and the "prison" metaphor compelling and use of the first person adds immediacy. Well done- Joan

Thank you Joan for this excellent review that appreciated the image, admired the form, and grasped the metaphor. You're the best.

Yep, scum tried to steal more chain than he could swim with. Me and you and Marley with our ponderous chains. Excellent post. Now I am off to find a copy of a ballad of death...

Thank you Lij Red. It was too long for me to put in my note. Hope you find it. Loved that Christmas Carol reference. Marley certainly rattled his at Scrooge. Lol.

HI TRIESCHEL,
your notes do not say whether you suffer from this affliction, but that is not important. What is is your ability to write just how it feels sometimes when you are suffering in this way. I have suffered with this for fourty years now and just when i think i have conquered it, it comes back with a vengance. There is no explanation for why it happens and not one thing that brings it on, but it can be soul destroying with insesant thoughts that destroy all trust and hope in that person.
A very well written understanding of what a person with anxiety can feel.
Well done,
Brenda.x

Hi Brenda, and thank you. No, I don't suffer from it myself, but my wife does, so I have first hand observation. I appreciate very much your comments and sharing such personal pain.

You write the hardest forms so very well. And you're a photographer, too. Wow. I like this rhyme scheme, and the poem read so smoothly, I hardly notice the shorter lines. Good alliteration.
He was in a confinement he created for himself.

I must confess I find myself bedazzled, if not scared, by your poems,
never knowing where their resplendence will take me in your Treischelesque imagination, its richness of rhymes, musical
metricalities and educational footnotes. Thank you for all those Blessings, john

This is a very well-written, descriptive poem. Your great word choice was terrific, it let the readers understand anxiety better, the struggles that go with it. The artwork was perfect.

Amazing artwork which inspired your write, I think we all at some stage in our life wrap ourselves in chains as some experiences bore into our hearts and damage us. You write is profound and resonating, love Dolly x
