I am amazed at how all these ideas come to you, and you always express them so beautifully. Excellent AABB rhyme. You describe the fields barren because of drought and harps and flutes ceasing to play. Yet your narrator finds comfort in God. The imagery of mounting the light of dawn and riding its beams above the storm. Whatever problems humanity may have, there is reassurance in God's love. An optimistic tone. judi

An absolutely moving poem.
It is so empowering as you look around and see lack, to know our hopes aren't in this world, but in the God who supplies all.
You helped me put a new perspective on what's missing, and helped me to realize it's not what's important.
So, what's this whole thing with Dean's poem, and calling you the new master of fear? Just wondering...
Take care,
Rhonda

I love the sentiment of the poem, and the quotation from Habbakuk. Yes it is in the difficult times that the rubber hits the road. Somehow, as I read your poem I was thinking of the terrible hardships suffered by the apostle, Paul, as he strove with so many different kinds of trials, yet always remained faithful to the gospel he preached and the churches he founded in Christ. Do you suppose the 'hard ground' and many trials produces refined gold?
Warmly,
Juliette

Hi, Roy;
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely poem. I really needed to read this today. So many things are transpiring all at once in my life, and I need to be reminded that He is in control,

I'm not certain why you weren't the person chosen to relate God's message through scripture. It might've been the "books of Roy"--so, who wasn't thinking ahead??
Bwahahaha.. Just kidding, but the work is lovely.

Uluru? What better example of the survival of hope over adversity than in the flowers of the outback. The wonder of the Creation brings colour to the most arid corners of our exisence.

This reads like a hymn - maybe it has the ole time hymnal metric to it. The rhyming fits the scheme, too. And, of course, you talk of our Lord. The first two stanzas end with conclusions about God; the third starts with God; and the last one is a great conclusion about how you are with God. Very nicely written!
