Hi dear friend. When you finally posted, I am sorry I wasn't here for you to comment and praise. I wasn't on FS in about a month due to unexpected crisis in family and husband's complicated surgery and recovery.
Things are becoming less hectic, so will be hearing from me. I liked this story very much and I love HORSES. I am not a master rider but love the smell and feel of the hides on these glorious beast.
Good job,Phillip.
Blessings,
Brigitte

Thanks for reading, Brigitte. My writing sucked when I started this journey. I write as a hobby to improve. I enjoy the writers here on this site as a way to get ideas for something to write. This was one of those ideas.

These are the phrases that really caught my attention: 1. I was so into those tv characters whose personality went side by side their name. 2. The name came from the Greek name (Philippos) which means "friend of horses." 3. I rode my first one while in the 6th grade on a class field trip to Laredo, Mexico. 4. That's where I had my first horse riding event. 5. I had the pleasure of riding horses. 6. I do not own a horse. 7. I don't have an automobile.

You start out wondering about your name. Because you are searching for answers, you look to television as a guide. You discover that the names of the characters align with the character's identity. It has meaning. But you don't believe that your own name "Philip" has any significance for you. It comes from Philippos which means "friend of horses." You do like horses. You rode one into Mexico. You enjoyed the experience and you were a natural at riding horses thanks to your love of television cowboy shows.

You really like riding horses, but an obstacle for you is your lack of a riding companion. The other challenges are that you neither own a horse or an automobile. You are frustrated, so much so, that you have considered giving up your name "friend of horses."

I was confused when you said that you "looked at the design on tv." I wanted to know what the design was. I also wanted to know what were the programs you looked at for that design. You mentioned the cowboy shows later, I was very interested about that and I wanted to hear more about young Philip and cowboy dreams.

I disagreed with you when you said "I can't say it matches me right now." Your whole essay revolved around your relationship with horses. To me, you aren't just a "friend" of horses, you are a lover of horses.

I really enjoyed the trip to Mexico. I wanted to know more about that. What was that like? What did you see? What was the landscape? What were the smells? Dessert flowers? Dust? What did you feel? Not just the rhythm of your horse friend, but emotionally too. What were you feeling then? Were you finally the cowboy you dreamed of being? Were you proud that you were such a natural with your horse?

I was sad when you "It was tough getting a horse riding companion." I was frustrated that there were obstacles for you.

I was confused by "Business profit an increase in the neighboring municipalities of Dallas." I felt taken out of the story you were telling. I didn't know what to make of this information.

I was sad when you said "Otherwise, by now, rejecting the name Philippos may not be fitting." It seemed to me that you were set to give up on who you are.

I enjoyed your story and have an affinity for horses also. I saw a couple of little "glitches" but nothing serious. Keep up the good work.

AAAhhh now I know, as others asked about me and I wondered about yours. But I am still lost on the 1115 and to it's meaning. And horses are great aren't they?

When I needed to get an email address before I bought a computer in 2008, I was learning the computer at the library.
After I bought my first computer, the telephone operator connected and explained the internet and said I needed a username. I've had that username since they invented for me. I had no clue what a username was at the time. I just went with it. That was the original of pbomar1115. And yes. I love horses.

This is an interesting story about you and the roots of your name, Phillip. So, my advice is to change your name to, Philladies. We'll say that means friend to women. That might spice the story up a bit.

Hahaha. I wish I was friends to women. My solitary life would be filled with women other the problems that I'm working on. I know me better than I know women. If I was in a relationship, I would have to compromise more as a security concern. They confuse men when I work with them, but I like them socially.

No wonder I like you, I'm also a horse lover. Luckily, at our place in Burgundy we have paddocks and a forested park I love riding around in, with the surrounding lake.

And don't forget, you're the "father" of Alexander the Great of Macedon (Macedonia). Philip II of Macedon was the king of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon from 359 BC until his assassination in 336 BC. Of course nobody is going to get rid of you in that way, thank God!

I was so into those tv characters whose personality went side by side (with) their name

As a single person who lives alone, I'm not so sure about the assassination part. Because I don't share the same interests and social inclinations of my so call friends and neighbors, I pose a threat to their commercial schemes. And I hate moving a lot. It's too costly and interrupts my life.

Wonderful piece, Phillip! We did converse here about the meaning of your name but I didn't know you actually rode horses. I'm really impressed. I tried it a couple of times but actually I was a bit terrified as horses are huge and I'm small. But they are such interesting animals.
One suggestion about this sentence because "seven-year-old" is an adjective.
" I felt watching those cowboy movies at seven-year-old stuck."
Maybe:
Watching those cowboy movies at seven years of age stuck.
Or
I felt all those cowboy movies, I watched when I was seven, stuck.

I love your story and how you found out what your name means. That is so beautiful and I love the artwork that you chose. I feel as though you have much more to write when it comes to this subject. Can't wait to read more.
