though the second line appears to have six syllables

I like your 5-7-5 poem about your experience with writers block. We have all been there. Your first line, "chewed pencil prostrate" is your aha line. It's a good one :) Unfortunately, I only count six syllables in your second line. You might want to fix that before the contest deadline.
