Great write Craig. I really enjoyed the way you've used the two ships starting out together but drifting apart in the storm in this context of two lives that went in very different directions. Got your word in well too,
cheers

Craig, This is a very well written story in a poem. You used very good descriptive words and very good imagery from the art work you used. I enjoyed it! Blessings, Teri

Odd the way a mind can twist a rudder. In Heinlein's Have Space Suit Will Travel the protag quotes Prospero. I wondered where his words came from. Excellent post.

Hi, Craig;
Wonderful poem. I wasn't so much focused on the ship as I was in the relationship. I can't imagine a better metaphor for two people drifting apart as you have penned.

Great use of your new word, 'naufrague.'

Thank you for sharing,

~patty~

What a delightful free verse poem, Craig! I wish I had a sixer left, as this write is most deserving. So very original the way that you have worked this piece. I especially love the following stanzas:

"my ship, rudderless,
tossed about
on the ocean of indifference" ... and

"I'm no naufrague,
I'm Gilligan
although I've had
my share of cocounuts
and ginger." (haha ... this stanza had me laughing!)

Yes, life is indeed a voyage. We may start out with our ship mate (so to speak), but with different views on where to head to, we ultimately embark on separate journeys, albeit rough, and our relationship ends. ~~ Connie

Now that's wonderful, my favourite yet.

I love the second and third stanzas (taken together) particularly, but in truth I could pick out several great lines. Very easy decision to grant the six stars, here

In line two, should it be 'years', or it that just me misinterpreting?

A very minor point, of course, a truly excellent poem.

Very well done.

I was just aiming for that "vintage" feel, you know... "many year ago".

Hahaha... I lie - thanks for picking that up. I have no idea how I managed to read over this so many times, and miss that on every occasion.

I'm very grateful for the wonderful praise, and the generous rating.

    Cheers,
    Craig

A pleasure, and it's so easily done (I've let some incredibly embarrassing mistakes slip by in the past, despite hundreds of read-throughs, edits and checks :) ) -James

A very well-written free verse poem throwing different ideas together to make it quite a different kind of work. It all works out well and the message is clear about the voyage that ends up in a shipwreck.

We can often feel shipwrecked in the storms of life and trying to keep our head above water is sometimes a challenge, but life is a colourful journey that many have walked and faced the same challenges and our destiny is to live it until the end, your poem is poignant and steering our way through the storms, love Dolly x

Craig, this is a magnificent free verse, truly. Just beautifully fluent, eloquent and your poetic conceit is fantastic. I am genuinely impressed.

Your unparalleled best poem to date in my opinion. Even with naufrague which I admit did snag me up for half a second. I can't think there's a more seamless way to work it in.

Well done, you!!

Gloria

*...sigh...*ing... Here we go again - this is it - my last six, yet as I read I knew it could be nothing less, and was only glad I still had one for this masterful poem. Wow, this must be a special morning - two wonderful free verse poems in a row...

That I managed a passable free verse is a matter of some surprise to me! Many thanks for the wonderful review, Dawn, and for the lovely stars as well. I'm very grateful - Craig

Puh-LEEZE! Passable? Not at all! You don't get one of MY sixes for 'passable', you!!! You are far too humble. :))
