Quite a good choice for the prompt-a sad commentary on bullying so a very timely subject, as well as a reminder that everyone feels this kind of pain.

This reminds me of that old adage...
" Sticks and Stones may break my Bones, but Words will never Harm Me"...
WRONG!... Words will stick with you way past the bumps and bruises!
Thanks for sharing... Good luck with the contest!

You know, you don't have to be a child for words to hurt. In childhood it's called bullying in adults its name is domestic violence. Same result, someone smirks and cringe's and some retaliate with terrible consequences. I very nearly killed my tormentor. Thank God I didn't. Sincerely Mabaker

    Thank you for reading my poem. You are right of course, it is not just children who suffer from cruel words and abuse. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I hope you are well.

Hi there;
Thank you for sharing your entry in the 1-6-1 contest. Great entry. I think the words all apply and make sense. Very hard to do with such a limited syllable count,

Good luck in the contest,

~patty~

    Thank you for reading and reviewing my work. I'm glad you liked it. It is indeed hard to write such a short poem. This is my first 1-6-1. I hope you have a nice day.

This is an excellent 1-6-1 poem that captures the impact of hurtful words. Your last word sad, is so true. This poem reminds me of the bullying going with children in today's world. Excellent use of words.

You have made your message clear in so few words.
Well done and good luck to you with the competition.

This one-six-one poem, Words Hurt, uses an eight-syllable format to highlight the damage done when taunting and bullying of others creates a mood of fear, anger, isolation, and low self-esteem.

They certainly do hurt. Words can also heal. By selecting this topic, you help the healing process. Keep bullying in the limelight. Good job. Great picture. Good luck in the competition.

    Thank you and you are right, words can heal. We just need to keep speaking up. I was bullied as a fourth grader and it has never left me...I still replay it in my mind. I notice you are in the contest also. I love your poem and wish you good luck.

Nicely done. I enjoyed reading all of these contest entries. Good choice of picture as well. I ask my kids regularly about bullying, and it seems like it's not as bad as it was when I was that age. Hopefully that trend continues. Good job.

This is a very well written 1-6-1 poem you have penned for the prompt. You used very good descriptive words that all rhymed. You used very good imagery with the art work. Blessings, Teri
