Hey, Craig...

Just wanted to mention I read this poem and enjoyed it. I'm running a bit behind in my list of things to do. I thought the list aspect, fast and flighty nature of this poem encapsulated the meening of sheep eyes without the word needing to be well known. On one hand, you imply the joking nature of the poem, (perhaps with the wham-bam-thankyou maam, or being faced with having to compromise in a relationship leading to the relationship ending.)

I actually saw it as a fast forwarding through life and love... not as faced with compromise, but it being as inevitable as the last goodbye for a relationship once it's entered. Meaning... you meet someone, you have dreams of what it will be like, fall in love, you claim that love with both hands... you spend the rest of your life compromising, until the last breath. It's less amusing in that aspect, but maybe closer to home for those who fall in love and stick with it.

    I think compromise is inevitable in any serious relationship, and it's not necessarily such a bad thing. Learning to find the middle ground is essential, since rarely do two people want exactly the same things or place equal importance on everything. But, as you point out, the poem was meant to be humorous, not a serious analysis of each aspect mentioned. Thanks for the kind and thoughtful review, Turtle :) Craig

    Welcome.

    There's a level of maturity needed to make the leap past fantasy to welcome the sanctity of compromise. : )

Cute, if a little gloomy.
Not all relationships need to end in goodbye. Not that I'm an example to go by.
Well done and thank you for sharing this one with us.

Hi, Craig;
Great use of your new word of the day: sheep's eye. I liked how you summed up the five stages of love. I wonder if you should have taken it all the way to the demise of love - which is so prevalent in today's society. Thank you for sharing,

~patty~

That's a funny word, and the meaning is hilarious. I've never heard of it before. I guess that's why I rush over to your post. I must learn more crazy new words. If you taught a class I'd shover everyone out of the way and grab a front row seat. Most enjoyable :)

Well I do have to admit you did do the stages of love starting with an idea and ending with a decision. Nicely done using the sheep eye, Been a long time since I heard that word

It's been said that brevity is the soul of wit, and with your concise wording and humour have delivered a succinct definition of true love.

Great job with this delight and new word friend, Craig.

A very well-written description of the five stages of true love. My last goodbyes were ten years ago when my late husband died. After that I did not get passed the first stage. Lol.

Haha ... I've heard of having 'puppy-dog' dog eyes but this is the first I've seen "sheep-eyes". I like the image that "sheep-eyes' brings to mind better. :)

This was a very fun read, Craig! Fun and also true! Well done. ~~ Connie

Craig, this is so clever. You've nailed it, as my hubby would say. Those really are the steps of most relationships, since most DO end. I'm one of those lucky few with a lifetime commitment to a wonderful guy. Seems to be more rare each year. :)
