When I was teaching in a special needs school I took my small class of only seven (the classes were small because these kids were trouble or at least they could be. it was late autumn And I was trying to get over to them that winter wasn't the bitter end of everything, because underneath the old brown leaves were the tiny buds of next year's lot just beginning to grow. This poem would have been useful back then.
