I love animals, too. My sons pray that a rhino doesn't need a home, or I'd try to take care of it, too. LOL

Thank you for the lovely comments and compliments. I'm sending love your way, too.

This deserves 10 stars!
What a truly inspirational story of what it means to be a friend. Too often "friends" abandon one another.

Too often it is true that the friendships seemed to be based on what you "can do for me" and not on doing things for the love and joy of giving honestly.

Wonderful.

Oh my gosh! This had me nearly in tears. I'm not sure I'd make it through the video. :) What a beautiful story! It truly touched my heart. This is so very well written! It quickly captures the reader's attention and easily holds it to the end with this inspiring account of animal friendship. Thank you for sharing! :)

Thank you for this wonderful review. I'm glad it touched you. Such love is hard to find anywhere. And people say they have no souls. Poppycock.

This is a lovely little animal tale but you seem to become confused as to who doing what to whom on a couple of occasions.

"...and Jack would stay on that side in front of Jack." I think Jack stayed in front of Charlie.

"Jack would patiently wait until Jack..." Same kind of problem really. Is the blindness catching by any chance?

Hi Yvonne,

It's times like this when it's hard to accept that he supposed fact that animals don't have feelings or souls...

Jack would patiently wait until Jack was ready - until Charlie?

Ooops. I'll change that now. Yes, I never believed animals don't have feelings. I've seen it for myself. Thank you for reviewing and catching that error.

What a lovely story, Yvonne. Animals can be so faithful. You are right, not many humans would act so selflessly.
Thanks for sharing, I'm going to look for the video to share it in my blog. My students will like it.

A very interesting story. It makes a reader speculate on the virtues of human nature
as derived from biological principles. It is not every person that appreciates such loyalty. It is a stimulating conversation piece.

A very well-written heartfelt and uplifting poem. When we look at animals we thought they are just animals without intelligence or feelings, how wrong can we be, some animals have more emotion, love, and intelligence than many humans I know.

Wow, Yvonne, what a moving story. Yes indeed, we could learn much from Jack the goat. I confess to avoiding stories and poems that are so poignant, so sad right now, but then a story about a horse and a goat I couldn't resist. This was wonderful.

It really isn't sad when you think of the devotion. It does my heart good to see this kind of friendship between species. Too bad humans can't do the same.
reply by Dawn Munro on 04-Jan-2018
Maybe not sad for those who have that kind of devotion, but unfortunately, many do not.

As you say, humans could learn.
