Thank you for this very insightful review. I agree with you. They definitely were not stupid, but they had to learn by trial and error, I suppose. I think it's amazing that they survived in ways we can only imagine.

Oh I am glad to see this make an appearance. I have run the reference to earth.
"A Dissertation upon Roast Pig by Charles Lamb" Is available as a free ebook and in other forms as well and you really shoul read it. It answers all the questions you poem asks.
Very well done with the anapaest too.

You know how much a six from you means.
I will look for that book. I'm fascinated with cave people.

A good story in a poem. Discovering fire would be a surprise and amazing for the cave dweller. Nice rhyme, internal rhyme and good use of alliteration.
Well done.
Blessings

I have not heard of an anapestic poem before. I will have to look up it's properties.
It's a very interesting poem you have penned Yvonne. Can you imagine discovering fire for the first time it would be amazing. Thanks for sharing.

I can see how this would be fascinating to kids, it caught my attention as well . Very interesting and well written, I like poems that teach as well as entertain. Have you ever seen clan of the cave bear? It's a pretty good movie that relates to your topic. Thanks for sharing.

a really interesting story in a poem
your dadaDUM's look all fine to my untrained eye but it sure does read really well without any trouble at all
I like your rhymes and it looks like only two verses have an ABAB scheme and the other verses only rhyme the B and the D line together
hope I have this right because I have really enjoyed your poem
as your word imagery is great

have a smiley day

Food for thought here all in great rhymes, we have come a long way from those days and our communication with each other improved so much. But we still basically cook on open flames don't we? A clever and rhyming write, love Dolly x

Thank you. I appreciate your review. Yes, we pretty much cook the same way, even after all this time. 8-) (Except for microwaves.)

This is great. And I say, no, we would not be living as we are if these wonderfully curious and creative people had not been curious and creative. I wonder what our curiosities will bring for the future?

Thank you for saying that. It all had to start somewhere, didn't it? I would like to witness that kind of wonder. We only find it in small children now. As for the future, I'm afraid to speculate. We seem to be overreaching ourselves.
