Yes, drive-ins still exist in some parts.

Love it! Yes, I remember those days of the drive-in theaters! I especially love the "asphalt sand dunes" to describe the parking area. The "groves of talking metal trees" is such a great way to describe the speakers from a child's perspective.

Yes, yes, yes, lyenochka, I remember going up and down, up and down as I ran over those "asphalt sand dunes" towards the swings in front of the screen, and I recall hearing the "groves of talking metal trees" as I passed. I just discovered a drive-in thirty minutes from my home. I am getting excited again like a little kid. I can't wait. I may not swing this time, but I will sit back in my car with the one I love and watch a double feature. Thank you for your generous, six star review.

Well, I am going to date myself. I have been to these outdoor theaters as a teenage. I actually miss them. I'm no poet but this appears to be well done. It is definitely enjoyable. Great job. God bless. Janie

Oh, thank you, Janie, for your review. No, you are not dated. After crying when I saw a 1996 picture of the demolition of the Los Angeles drive-in I frequented as a kid, I discovered that a family operates the largest drive-in chain in the world.

They are going around the west and reopening screens . . . including one thirty minutes from my home! Drive-ins are hot again and I can't wait to visit one for the first time in forty years.

    Thanks again and God bless.

Your poem "Drive-In Intermission" brings back many memories of my childhood as that of my teenage years. I know the technology of today is a marvel, but can it really compare to the outdoor silver screen of yesteryear? Thank you for sharing this delightful piece.

No, Victor, the technology of today can't compare to the joys of the outdoor silver screen of yesteryear. After posting my poem and pining for drive-ins, I discovered an active one thirty minutes from my home! Instead of using talk boxes, you hear the movie on your car radio and they use digital projections. I can't wait to go to a drive-in. It's been forty years. Thank you for your review.

Hey, have a good time at the drive-in! Sometimes you can relive your youth.

Yes, Victor, I am doing a "Coco"/"Star Wars" double feature tomorrow. It feels like a dream. I did not realize how much I missed drive-ins until I posted my twenty-five year old poem.

I love this. I was never a drive-in fan. This makes me wish I had been in the past. Lovely images expressed in lovely language. Swings are fun too. Very well done.

Drive-ins, the great make-out centers of the suburbs. They were probably more children conceived in drive-ins them maternity wards. There used to be employees whose job was to roam the lot and knock on windows to stop amorous activity, I never understood why they cared.

Yes, Thomas, children were conceived at drive-ins. One father told me he used to send his kids to the playground in front of the screen so he could make out with his wife in the car and conceive more children. Thank you for your review.

Your artistically crafted poem brings back memories of times of yesterday where cars were your seats in a movie, where some facilities also had playgrounds and even merry-go-rounds.
thanks for the memories. Well done

I remember the drive in theaters from my youth. Television and technology have destroyed them in this modern age. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Yes, c_lucas, although television and technology have destroyed many drive-ins, I am grateful that I live a thirty minute drive away from one of the four last active Californian drive-ins. I plan to visit it soon. Thank you for your review.

-Good image and
interesting topic, Sis Cat.
-You capture the spirit
of the drive in movies well.
-The imagery is vivid and
paints a good picture of the scene.
-I also like the use of one
complete thought to express
your ideas.

Hi, Andre;
Such a great memory! Drive-ins were the only way my family ever went to the movies, and since I was the youngest, I would clamor for everyone and anyone to come to the swings with me.

Great presentation and wonderful rhythm in this short piece,

~patty~
