Delightful. Make believe can be such fun and you have done an awesome job. Yes, I must say "Merry Christmas! It's been a long time since I popped in. My mom has been in Heaven for 3 years now. I am 70 and in a wheelchair due to arthritis as lymphodema. But, my mind is still on the go. I am home schooling 4 children (7, 10, 11 and twin 16 year old girls) The 3 younger one's mother is in Stage 4 Lymphoma. Miss Evelyn is still with us, U don't get to talk to her much. She just got out of the hospital. I posted a poem. First thing I've posted in 2-3 years. I;ll try to pop in more often. Gid loves you and so do I. Janie

Oh, so good to hear from you! Glad Nana is still going strong. I too am in a wheelchair, arthritis and one leg. Writing keeps our heads busy and takes our mind off our physical problems. Thanks for reading, glad you enjoyed The Toymaker! Happy and healthy New Year my friend. Love, Kay XXX

I like this very much. Because it is a Christmas Story contest entry, you needed to have several holiday descriptions. You did that very well. Good job. Good luck!

I appreciate the fact that as it seems to me the theme of the Christmas story is magic. The greatest justification for Christmas as I see it is that especially children who do not know what the world is are given the illusions proffered in magic.

This was such a lovely story, Kay, enchanting! I'm sure it will do well in the contest and it would make a lovely Children's book story. You are an artist, you should have a go at illustrating it. Well done, my friend, and good luck in the contest! A very Happy Christmas to you, Lea, and Toby! xxxx

Thank goodness for that, it's much too good a story not to make the effort. Even if it doesn't win, it's a story that many would buy to read to their children. I have my fingers crossed for you. xxxx

This is a lovely Christmas story and an admirable entry for the contest. I thoroughly enjoyed it ... except for Alaska being a bad reindeer at the end but it does go to show that smoking is NOT a good habit to develop LOL, All the best in the judging and thank you very much for sharing it.

This is delightful and fun Christmas story. I love the name Alaska and that everyone got their gifts. Even the house burning down wasn't a problem...they have magic. I enjoyed this story very much and wish you all the best in this contest.

As he chipped away at a block of wood, his pet reindeer, Alaska, nuzzled his ear. Alaska had been Kris's only animal friend since forever. He could also speak English to Kris as he worked. ... I'm jealous!
Not only does Kris have a reindeer named Alaska for a best friend, it can also speak to him as well.
Where can I get one, LOL?

"What kind of angel is that grandpa?" Tory gazed at the golden Angel Kris had placed on the top of the tree.

"Oh, that's Gabriel, the Angel that brought good tidings to Mary. He told her she was going to have a baby boy and was to call him Jesus. Which means Wonderful!"

"Tis not," said Tory, "the tree angel is a girl."

"Hmm, must have got my angels mixed up. Anyway, Gabriel did visit Mary and she did bring Jesus into the world. And that is what Christmas is all about.
... Good recovery on Grandpa's part. Perhaps he'd forgotten to put his spectacles on which is why he didn't notice the angel tree topper was a girl instead of a boy.
Hey, it could happen...

They all made their way to their bedrooms after leaving carrots for Rudolph and a glass of milk and biscuits for Santa. ... I learned recently that the word "biscuits" in the UK and Australia is equivalent to cookies here in the states...

"I'll wait till Alaska arrives and then we can go get a new wheelchair for Tory, I know just the place for a chair - it's called The Red Arrow." ... Red Arrow nothin'! Get him one like the chair Marty Coslaw had in Stephen King's "Silver Bullet".

What red-blooded boy wouldn't LOVE a chair like that, LOL?

Great story, Kay. Very well written.
And as all great stories do it ends on a very happy note.
Sorry I'm all out of sixes.
I hope a "virtual six" will suffice for now.

I like writing each type of Santa Claus stories myself about Christmas and events I wrote one one once called the the last Christmas when Santa actually breaks down in this way and I introduced a new reindeer that Santa has never heard before he failed reindeer school and he's wandering in the woods he's very upset he can't be helping Santa with the sleigh and then sentence Santa crashes in the woods and here's his new reindeer I can't remember his name in the woods and he comes over to see what's going on in there Santa and two of the reindeer had to be unhitched because they were both injured Rudolph and Prancer so he's a large Reindeer and Santa allows him to lead the slide to get Santa to the North Pole to the hospital and eventually mrs. Claus takes over the reins of delivering the presents that year so it wasn't really wasn't it was a Christmas that almost wasn't thanks dr. Ricky 1024
