This is a fantastic delicious story about achievement, success in a row, 7th time, runner up, soup tasting competition, now winner Marlowe no other name; I like. DR ALCREATOR

It's not often I read a story of this length on fanstory. Your story though demanded I keep reading. In one word, it is brilliant. And deserving of paid publication in a quality magazine.
Your writing is superb. You have created great characters, a magnificent plot and tension that propels the story forward.
I would rate this up with anything I've ever read on this site.

Hi Bob. Thanks for the encouraging review. Not sure I am deserving of such praise but I must admit to feeling uplifted and encouraged by your comment. Thanks once again and have a good break. R

Very well done. The suspense and sense of mystery keeps every sentence bleeding into the next one and making the reader want more. The details and descriptions add immensely to the suspense. Although the concept of Marlowe's soup is gross and disgusting, the plot and story behind it is rather ingenious. Good luck wishes in the contest.

just as I struggled to describe (its) smell

Very well done and quite different than anything I have ever read of yours. Another side of you that has shined. I love it.

Thank you Barb. I am really glad you like this and feel encouraged to pursue short stories more next year in lieu of poems :) Have a lovely break! R

Raw potatoes are actually poisonous. My mother proved this as she loves the taste of raw vegetables including raw potato. The only way to get her to stop eating it as a teenager was for the doctor to tell my naïve mother that raw potato causes threadworms. This she believes and has not eaten raw potato since. This is a most interesting and absorbing piece, I LOVE your writing style-you should write more short stories (especially horror I love them!) wonderful work well done love Meeia xxx

Thanks Meia. Perhaps I'll weave in the chronic damage sustained by the narrator thanks to the potatoes in another edition :) I must say I consider your praise highly because I consider you a mistress (or should that be master in these times :)) of the genre. Thank you very much for your encouraging words. Indeed, I plan to split my time equally between poems and short stories next year (I write too many poems badly! :) ) and your comment helps to convince me it's a wise decision. Thanks again and have a lovely break! xx

Bless you It is Mistress actually but I am not although it I very kind of you to say so. I have been writing more horror short stories recently and I have to say I find prose WAY harder than poems. Although I don't specifically write horror only, if you look through my work I write what I would can 'emotional' poetry but there is no category for that. A big complement though as I say I loved your work so keep writing kind regards Meia xx

Hey, thanks for the clarification. I always read your work because I have 'fanned' you and though I don't always review, I find them breathtaking! :) Also, the mistress/master thing was just a reference to the desire in some quarters for actresses to be referred to as actors :) Have a good day! xx
