Nice one! Glad there are people bringing the soldiers to the forefront. A detailed, bold and involved retelling of events! Your passion for the subject is easily recognisable. Keep up the good work soldier!

    Hello Bolonomad1,
A "Salute," for the review and kind words. Your taking time to read my work, "Is an honor!" My meeting you, is "An honor as well!" Are you a Veteran, my friend? For future reference, I'm not a soldier. I did my turn in the apple barrel as a "Joint Services Air Force Commando" in Iraq. Ouch!! Best wishes for a great weekend ahead, and good health and happiness always.

Cheers for the good wishes. No, I'm not a soldier, went to military school though. Fathers a soldier, brother, pretty much everyone I know is a soldier so I have a healthy understanding and respect for all those in, out and associated to it. You enjoy that weekend too bud!

AWESOME the way you wrote these true historical facts and horrific events. Makes me so angry to hear how many soldiers were bombed and blasted. You even named patriotic songs and commands given. SO TERRIBLE. WELL DONE! liberty justice

Hello Bill -
Millions of people gave their lives fighting fascism and imperialism, but Pearl Harbor was the event that forever changed the course of human history. Thanks so much for your wonderful tribute poem.
All the best...
Bill~

    Hello Bill O'Bier,
A "Salute," my friend! Your taking time to review my work, "Is an honor!" Are you a Veteran, Bill? The latest census prospective shows around 607,725 WWII Veterans are living today, with around 555 dying per day. At this rate, no WWII Veterans will be living come December 2020. Sweet Jesus! If time were not a moving thing, "I'd reach out, grab hold, and fill my pockets full." How bout you, my friend? Best wishes for a great weekend...and "God bless."

Hello, Bill,
Got it right, no I didn't I first typed 'Jim'. We must have known each other in another life and you were Jim. Wonder who I was? Okay, enough of that.

Your poem is very well done. I don't really see an urban legend in it, though. But I wish you luck in the contest. I like your rhyming!

Happy season, Bill.
Nome :)

I love and respect the ones who lay and have laid down their lives for us. Your poem was so real and reading your profile, now I know why. You were writing from experience. God bless you for serving in our great military.

Great poem with a great tribute to our country as it was attacked that day. A time when we were united and not divided. May our memory live on of that terrible day but yet be thankful for all the honorable who lost their lives.

You tie together all kinds of seething emotions and moments in this marching beat poem, Pearl Harbor, Nagasaki, the sailors and soldiers from all walks of life who died there, in the hail of bombs. The patriotic groundswell of that moment is in your poem. As it was the next day when so many volunteered to fight against the Japanese. I think you could have dug into some personal moments a little more, and it would have been stronger if you did that. it might actually be better as a short story. I think you could expound on the individual stories a little more, give us a sense of these soldiers and their lives, the families they were connected to, and the emotions wrenched up in that moment. estory

The author reminds us, once again of the events that took place on the 2nd World War. I like the way he described... the beginning and the end of the war. The data killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki remind us how destructing and powerful are the bombs which caused my imagination of the modern bombs being talked by North Korea today. I hope the world will never come into that situation again. Thanks for sharing. I found the narrative informative and excellent.
