G'day Maria.
Beautifully written submission to the club, my friend.
The picture captures the realities of life and your poem says it all.
Sadly, this is all very common in every country. Here, in the Philippines, there is a huge gap between the haves and have nots, there is no welfare syste. They say there is, but they don't have a budget to operate with.
Very touching work.

I know lots of Filipinos, mostly women. I live in Madrid and go to an English-speaking Catholic church. The Filipinos in my church usually work as maids and many of them have left their families behind because they really needed to carve a better future for them. They are lovely people and very hard-working.
Thanks for your kind review.

The photo you choose top go with your poem is a perfect match
And the words to your poem is a strong message to one and all I always say Only by the grace of God there go I.
That is way I always try to help others. For It is better to give than receive.

Yes, Maria, and the thing is, this kind of situation come in all shapes and sizes, haves and have nots, and the most upsetting, always the innocent that suffers.
My best wishes.

Wow, how very deep. I loved this. Sometimes your conscience will try to lead you, the fool doesn't listen. But, as you say, the day of reckoning will come. Wonderful, blessings...

Love it. Makes me want to cry. So much like what is wrong in our world. All the main character wants is for someone to help and to notice them. In the end we will all be the same.

I am glad the challenge inspired you to create this evocative poem. I admired your speaking in the voice of the poor person in these short but powerful quatrains. Thank you for the reminder to be compassionate, since there but for the grace...go I! Sighs- Joan
