-A very good image and
excellent story, Rhonda.
-I loved this from beginning to end.
-Jethro told the story so well because
you made him so believable as a character.
-I could see him telling other stories, too!
-Great interaction among all the characters.
-I like this bit of dialogue:
"I don't have anything to trade you, but my dog Jethro."
"Hey, buddy, I've been here with you through thick and thin."
-Good ending, as well.
-This is a winner in my book!!

Awww, thank you, Pam.
I'm glad Jethro was believable, as he was the key character.
Perhaps he should tell more stories, haha.
I so appreciate the six stars and the support!
Take care,
Rhonda

You are very welcome for the stars and support, Rhonda. Yes, he should tell more stories, as he does it well. Have a good day.
-
Thank you, you too!!

You are welcome, and thanks, as well.

Rhonda,
So, I guess it was all the dog's fault, just stood by and let poor Jack sell the cow
to an old hag without so much as a bark of disapproval.
And they say a dog is man's best friend.
Great humor and dialogue in your inventive retake on the Beanstalk story.
Who knew that giants have a league of their own.
Excellent ending, too.
Hooray for Jack!
Good luck in the contest

Thanks, RS.
Yes, Giants do have their own league. I hear they have their own football team, too. hehe.
You know, ol' Jethro gets a bad rap on this one, but he was pretty young at the time, and not quite sure of his relationship with Jack.
He's much more comfortable now.
Thanks for the wonderful six star review, my friend.
Take care,
Rhonda

Great job, Rhonda! You really have a great story, and I enjoyed Jethro recounting it. I only found one thing for your consideration.
I laid back down--lay

Thank you, Russel. I do remember having that mistake, and thought I had fixed it. Sometimes, you can make changes on this site, save them, and it doesn't change. I'll go back and fix it, thanks!!
Take care,
Rhonda

Nicely done. Your little story gave me my laugh for the day. I needed a good laugh too after all that work to fix Thanksgiving dinner. I had a good Thanksgiving and hope you did too.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and again today at the in-laws. lol. I feel so fat.
Thank you for your wonderful review. It made me feel good to know you got a laugh. I needed one, too. It was fun to write.
Take care,
Rhonda

This is a really good story. I suppose that this would be called a "fractured fairy-tale."
Its a very good development on the story with a dash of humor involved as well. I'd like to see this as a series.

Thank you, my friend! I had way too much fun writing it. It's a good break from all the serious stuff.

Rhonda,
Oh, please, oh, please...take a lot more breaks...? *smile* This was SUCH fun. I very rarely find things truly humorous anymore -- too jaded? But I smiled several times during this reading. It was smart and unexpected and FUN! Thanks and good luck!

Thank you, Robyn. It was so fun to write. I think I needed a smile, too. And there's nothing like a dog telling a Fairy Tale to do it.
Take care,
Rhonda

A very well-written twist on Jack and the beanstalk. There could have been a great surprise if Jack decided to give the old hag the kiss. Or a terrible change of events.

Sometimes those little detours help you replenish and regroup when you're writing a lengthy novel, Rhonda.
This was g-r-r-r-rrrrrrrrreat, however, and truly funny!
Your little "detour" just might turn out to be a profitable one if you should win the contest you've entered it in.
I'd say you have as good a chance as anyone of doing so.
I especially liked the fact that this was told from the dog's perspective. I believe that's one of the main reasons it works so well.

Thank you for the review, and the Thanksgiving wishes. I haven't been on here to respond, but I was delighted with the Thanksgiving picture, and the very helpful remarks.
It was such a fun contest, and much needed on my part, as you said. I might do one more just so I can complete my 6 stories to rank (probably at around 200, but it's still a goal, right?). Seems I only wrote one poem all year. Wow, lazy me. haha.
I do appreciate your review. They are almost as fun as your poetry (and usually not nearly as scary), ahh, but one does love a good scare now and then.
Happy belated Thanksgiving,
Rhonda
-
Sure, it's a goal, Rhonda.
You might as well do one more. Who knows where you'll wind up in the rankings.
Good luck!

Al for fun and practice, right?

That was a brilliant take of the original Jack in the beanstalk, Rhonda, really funny and I loved the ending. It was fun reading it from the dogs pov, I can really imagine him like that. Well done, it's an excellent contest entry. Good luck. :) Sandra x
