Very well done, I'm sorry I missed the contest voting period - but I am glad you won. This is composed very elegantly and creatively. I remember an old cartoon where the underground gnomes are working to pump colors through the roots of flowers to announce springtime - but old man winter kept blowing frigid air as best he could before relenting.

Thank you so much for the great review and lovely comments! I actually was looking for some artwork and decided to try the internet... I searched for "Old Man Winter" on Pinterest and found this one. I thought it worked really well for the poem I'd written - especially with the blue and white contrasting colors! Thank you again for the great review - am so glad that you enjoyed!

Can see why this poem was a winner! You painted a wonderful picture of ol' man winter having two sides to his personality. Although we do deal with the occasional blizzard here in New England, it's also very peaceful to see snowflakes floating by our windows when we're inside sipping hot chocolate. Well done.

Not only is this well rhymed, metered and tells a good tale, it demonstrates a perfect form of personification while doing so.
Presented in two ten line stanzas, one octave, and a sestet, or six-line stanza, it reads smoothly regardless and the differing length in stanzas help to keep if from being monotonous.
