First of all let me commend you in tackling this competition head on and with such skill. Your writing is commendable and so to the point and REAL in every aspect. Those few words convey so much that some find it difficult to explain even in a short story. I can empathize with your words and so can many others I am sure. Appreciate you writing from the heart because that is all I do myself.
Second I would like to say thank you for utilizing my work to accompany your work. It fits most perfectly if I do say so myself. Hand in hand together they tell a remarkable story that has one artistic work and one "few worded" poem work that together says and shows much much more. I am both honored and humbled that you chose mine where there were a multitude to chose from.
Again....well done....Excellent write....excellent choice of artistic work to accompany it (heehee)

In my opinion, a relevant message for the past, present and our future - excellent timing, especially with all the goings-on in our world today and everywhere - construction and presentation dramatic in its artistic expression and perfectly compliant with the prompt. Best of luck in the contest...

The jazzy gif form of the artwork certainly matches the sentiments expressed in the poem, both keep swirling. Like life I don't want to stand and gaze at it too long. It is so dazzling it tires me out. This has exactly the twenty syllables as required here.

Brigitte, gosh...that is one eye catching picture. It gives the reader something to ponder further while reflecting on the question of innocence gone. An excellent entry for the short poem contest. Good luck! ~DD

Good question, Brigitte. One I simply cannot answer.
Can anyone, I wonder?
I bought a copy of your book, 'Apples, Holes, Ants and Bees...but no blankie' on Amazon.com for my 7 year-old niece who just loves to read to me. She tells me, "Uncle Deano? You sure know some famous people, don't you?"
I'm sure she's gonna love it.
Best of luck,
~Dean

A very well-written short poem. Life is only a moment in time. Before we know our end is near and there is nothing that will prolong or change the end. We should live each day as it it is our last.

Wow Brigitte, that piece of psychedelic art took me
back a few years to places I no longer visit (at least as
often lol) and your text was a perfect fit for the art but
I am not exactly sure why? Anyway I wish you luck in the
contest and hope you come out of it with a win. tom

Thank you for this rating an awesome review. I thought the swirling showed the conumdrum of life. Thank you for the good wishes. 20 syllables for a story is incredibly hard for me.

Sweet, Jesus! What do I say? "You did it again," Brigitte! Hurrah! A commendable "Commentary and Philosophy" presentation. The Artwork is awesome, and halo's the message crystal clear. Oh, I hear you, "Life's clock goes tic-toc," never stops, until after it alarms for our final earthly moment. Please! Keep your creative mind, "Creating!" Best wishes, "My dear friend!"

Thank you so much for these incredible comments. It is very difficult to write a story in 20 syllables! Hope I counted right!
The rating is a honorable tribute to my efforts. I am grateful for friends like you that inspire me on a daily basis.

This short poem, Life Is Like Dust, makes an unusual analogy between the dust that gathers and is swept away, only to return, and the recurring memories of our past. I like that characterization.
