Hahahaha! G'day cobber.

Well, you learn something every day, as they say lol.

When I went to buy Delia her first washing machine, a few years ago, she said... "I don't understand them washing machines" lol.

Great job.

Cheers Fez

Tell Della we have had fun w8th each new machine we have had. Our last one was a Thor....definitely a "Thor" hehe point, too. From a European company. When the economy went belly up and probably the Euro got started Thor took off back home. Then we could not get parts sigh! We got it fixed once and the guy said if it ever went bung again to buy a new (Australian of course) machine.

I had never heard of the need for this. I wonder if its necessary for American made washers, too. I do know soda and vinegar is a great cleaning agent combo for many things. Thanks for sharing the tip.

No worries, Sis. Some who use their washers more, as a friend in our Northern state does, says she never has the problem, so go figure.

Hi Sankey. It appears that you are learning all the time. Can't be easy to have to do it all, but you seem to take it in your stride. Thanks for your little tale. All the best. Ulla:))

What a cool feature. Mine does not have that. I just had to have a repair man replace a part in mine. Apparently I was putting too much into the washer causing it to work too hard. A good (and expensive) lesson for me too.

Glad you enjoyed. Some others (outside FS) have told me their machines work a lot harder seeing they have kids, but they never had the problem. Go figure!

Repair cost a veritatable fortune in call out fees, although we've had it about twenty years, and had water pump replaced only, but never anything else, it's a top loader, 8kg, make : Hoover. But Fisher and Paykel is a good ,make, well done, blessings, Geoff, Roy

Thanks Bro. Been hearing a few that their machines have worked a lot harder than ours but never had the same problem. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Lord Bless.

Right, my friend. Thanks. I've noted it down for future use:

>>2 tablespoons of Bi-carb Soda in the receptacle for detergent and run a full cycle. Then place a cup of White Vinegar in the Drum and run the cycle again.<<

And thank Michaela for me too.

Will do mate. She is a great help to my wife when she comes. Used to also be our cleaner as well as one of the carers more recently now. A multi-talented lady owned a Pub at one time and has also been an Undertaker.

I imagine that it is not just your front loader that this tip is good for. I will try it on mine as well. Aussie front loaders cannot be that different than American front loaders and I aim to try your tip. Neither chemical will harm the washer and both are good cleaners so here goes. Thanks for your post my friend.

Glad to be a help, Sis. Some have said they have been running their Fr Loaders for years without problems and work a lot harder than ours but I felt it was good to share. Lord Bless.

I have never cleaned out a drum of a washing machine and mine usually last 15 -20 years. Oh my!!! I guess I have been lucky. Not sure. Maybe the water is different in the US.

Never heard of this tip for a washing machine before.

What works, works.

Thanks for passing this one along.

You are right about a little preventive care is much cheaper than purchasing a new appliance.

In my case, it is a refrigerator that I am replacing today.

Good on you mate as we say here. Thanks for coming by. I have to get the Sodium Bi Carb (baking POwder you call it) so I can do a proper clean up but the machine worked today after an initial cycle empty.
