Every person alive deserves to have a home. It's a basic necessity in life. About 10 years ago, I read that the USA was a place very good. There were no homeless in this country until the Vietnam War. The veterans came back and turned crazy. The were locked in places like crazy hospitals and went set free, they made home like war grounds on the city streets. How to get Love to prevail and clean everything up...

Good C-word alliteration. Sad satori with strong imagery. Good work.

God bless you. Happy Halloween.

New Jersey has many such places, and we see again and again how our economy simply does not provide for the citizens. It is a painful irony that a park named after Cesar Chavez, who did so much for working class people, would be the scene of poverty.

Hello, Mark, that is what I thought, it's ironic but at least there is a place for the homeless to be. In many places they are not wanted and they are forced to move....but where? It's a real problem next to not having a safe place to sleep.

Thank you for reading and reviewing my little poem. It's always good to read your reviews.

Hola Guapa, this is a great haiku, which conjure up all the feelings of how frigid and cold it must be to be a homeless. Very poignant. It's becoming a big problem everywhere. Un abrazo, Ulla:)))

Hello, Linda, there is a government housing program called section 8 that helps homeless people but there is a long waiting list and not many get the benefit. We need more help. Thank you for the excellent review and heartfelt feedback. I love you

Greetings, Gypsy;
-this is a frigid awareness of those homeless people who suffer the evenings and nights alone on the bare ground and some without a blanket or warm clothing.
-Your haiku says it all , and the disturbing picture relates to and is relative to those homeless people that do the suffering. It is very appropriate for your poem.
-Good descriptive and expressive lines are created in the first two lines of your poem and set up the understanding for your satori.
-The satori gives an aha moment and expresses the spontaneity of excitement which is relative to the conceptual theme of your poem.
-The terminology of "cities frigid ground" could be looked at as a or the Kigo which is a seasonal reference.
-Thank you for sharing and take care and have a good one.
Alex

I enjoyed reading your haiku "Cesar Chavez Park". It is sad to see so many homeless people around the world. You followed the 5-7-5 format for this genre which I like and you chose a very fitting photo for your haiku.
All the best.

At least you gave them some tribute in your poem.

These are some of the injustices that make me so
mad and ashamed of being a human being. We have
enough wealth for everybody in the whole world a
dozen over - yet the wealth remains in a few greedy
hands who have so much that prices ofr the most basic
things - food warmth and shelter - has to be raised to
cope with their wealth.

A very well-written haiku. When we see how peoe.live on the streets we realize how privileged we are to.have a roof over our heads and food on the table, it is enough reason to be happy.

Poem reminds me of how I had left a theater in Berkeley last night to see the once bustling sidewalks now inhabited by the homeless and their dogs bedding down for the night. I love the specific details of your poem capturing a specific place and the homeless who hangout on the "city's frigid ground." This is a profound commentary not only on our State's capitol but of cities and towns everywhere.

Thank you, Gypsy, for sharing and caring.

We are starting to get similar problems in our cities here in NZ, friend, the ammout of homeless numbers have apparently doubled in the past 5 years. We have a massive housing shortage which the new government has promised to address. We will see! Nice thought provoking poem friend : )
