This is a great entry for the Halloween Limerick contest. Limerick's are not easy to write. This one made me chuckle. I especially like "her face was spotty and hairy".
Syllable count for each line is spot on, and there's very good rhyming and a smooth flow. Perfect pairing of picture and poem too.
Good luck in the contest! ~~ Connie

I love this, Mystery Author! Halloween is my favorite time of year... the color, the costumes, the candy, and the diabolical villains. The witch is perfect for your poem. It was a neat idea to combine Halloween with a limerick contest. Your syllable count is 88668, and describes Mary so well. I actually thought "scraggly" was the word, but when I looked it up in the dictionary, I found "scraggy".
If you met this witch in the woods, I'm sure she'd scare you out of your wits!
Good Luck in the contest! It should be a contender.
cheers

This Halloween limerick, A Witch Called Mary, has a pretty good beat and fulfills the general requirements of a limerick. The image you chose sold the bit as well.

maybe a little scary but more funny than scary. :) For some reason, blue doesn't quite get to scary for me. Good luck in the contest.
Love the graphic too. . .just really sets your story in motion.

Great job on your entry for the Halloween Limerick contest. The rhyme and rhythm are just right. Wonderful photo to enhance the words, and make for a good read.
Good luck in the contest,

A very well-written Halloween limerick. A scary witch with a big blue crooked hat and a scraggy cat is just the thing to make Halloween a little more scary.

It's a timely and sweet poem that adds to the spirit of the season. It fits perfectly with the expected format. The traditional style and rhythm when presenting this works well with the topic as well. Much enjoyed.

Yep, she looks pretty bloody scary to me. What's with the blue getup? I thought witches were supposed to wear black. Good luck in the contest.
