Hello Vance! I was so touched with your poem.I can also relate to what you feel at the moment eventhough i am not yet on that stage or situation.I encountered lots of cases as yours in my workplace.I know 20 years or less than 20 years from now i'Il be in that situation too wherein I might experience a set of physical limitations and emotional challenges due to aging. All of us really dont want to grow old and get sick .Many are looking for a scientific solution just to have a solution of the aging problem but they failed. The reason of that failure is because of the imperfection that we enherited from Adam and Eve as stated in Romans 5:12.The original purpose of God for mankind is to live forever happily in paradise on earth. The sacrificial death of God's son Jesus Christ provided a way for us to experience again God's original purpose for mankind.Psalms 37:29 stated:"The righteous will possess the earth ,and they will reside forever on it.What a happy hope for us!I am sure you want also that kind of life.Eventhough what we experience at present makes us sad since we grow old,we get sick and finally we will die but the promise of God will make us hopeful. We can still live happily despite of the situation by having a positive attitude.I really like the lines in your poem "the richness of your faith shall carry you in joy and your gratitude will deny any fear" You are really right, Vance! We can only have that faith if we have a regular communication with God.We can do it through prayer and reading His word " the Bible".Your poem really affect the emotion of the reader.Usually poem is touching if it came from the inner emotion of the author. Most of the poems I wrote is based from my own experience that is why I loved to read poems that will touch my emotion.
I feel so sad knowing that you are struggling from Alzheimer's disease.Eventhough it is a progressive neurodegenerative disease where dementia symptoms gradually worsen over a number of years you can do something to slow it's progress. There is current temporay treatment /interventions for cognitive symptoms and you can do something to slow the worsening dementia symptoms. There are medications to treat the cognitive symptoms though it cannot stop the damage that Alzheimer's causes to our brain cells but those medication will be of great help to stabilize certain chemicals involved in carrying messages among the brain nerve cells.Aside from medications (if you are already taking medicine) your poem writing hobby and effective communication system can be of great help.Let your family be involved in your struggles. You cant do it alone! You need a support system:friends, family and the fanstory community. Most of all strengthening
the relationship with our Creator is very important.Person with Alzheimer's with the help of family should have these goals in mind as focus of treatment:how to maintain quality of life, having safe environment, maximizing functions in daily activities;enhancing cognition, mood and behavior and promoting social engagement. The health professionals will help you and your family to know the the specific interventions so that you will become successful in your struggles.Always remember that nowadays (unlike during the Bible times)God will not cure our sickness in a miraculous way for God will do it in the promised future under Christ's rulership but still He makes a way and provides a source of relief. He can use other people to help us and He provided lots of help and guidance on how we will be able to successfully solve the problem.Maintain a happy life despite of life's imperfections!Sorry for making you tired reading this very long comment. When I am touched with the poem I read , I was motivated to share more.
With christian love and concern,
Shysea

Oh, Vance, this is so elegant, so sweet - yes, our fears rest with Him when our faith is strong, and time marches on for all (although sometimes it feels like it runs, doesn't it? LOL)! What a lovely poem! I enjoyed it very much - so comforting!

A strong faith poem, one that reaches out to those like me, living on His generosity
long beyond three score and ten. Cannot see any changes I would make.

A strong image here of the grate being cleaned out as "the ashes of the fires of youth" are swept out and scattered to the four winds, enabling the spirit of the fire to ascend into the comforting haven of the heavens. I like the way you have developed this. It has a timeless quality about it.

This spiritual poem, In Any Hour, is a joyful testimony of how life can be good, in its entirety, with the certainty of a powerful, and gracious God holding the present and future. Nice.

This work has reached the exceptional level

As we get older, we know that true peace comes with our walk with God. Tears might be present but they are for the living and peace comes with our faith in God.

I like the picture of the workings of a clock as it fitted really well into the poem about father time. The link was there for all to see which was nice. Thank you for sharing and have a nice week.
