This is a great challenge - trying to tell a story in only 60 words or less. (But not for me!) Good job getting a basic story to fit in such a cramped space. Good luck in the contest.

Yup, Been there with the pellet pistol! Wasn't that good eating though. Dogs loved it! Blame it on the fox, who ever that might be and good luck in the contest

Oh dear! I'm vegetarian, but I do sympathize with the cock-a-doodle-doing waking you up. One suggestion is to change chicken to rooster. It's the rooster who hails the morning with its greeting. Marilyn

    Thanks. I was going to put rooster but I hear they don't make good eating.

    It's based on my friend who has moved to the country for some peace and his neighbours hens are driving him mad with their clucking.

The speaker is no fool as the rooster learned the hard way. An amusing story unless you're the neighbor now missing a noisy chicken. Well done in only 60 words.

I like how this story was crafted to allow a scheme to become reality, cease the noise, and provide a roast chicken dinner. I thought the neighbor opened the coop door, but he framed the fox instead. Good read.
