Wow, beautiful and just seen you won the contest, congratulations, well deserved !
How well you describe landscape, scenes, etc. in such sensitive, eloquent language, which of course says so much about how you observe and experience ! Love and Best, Susan xxx

You did a wonderful job on this contest entry. There were many excellent entries, but I thought your poem was the best. It got my vote. You paint a most beautiful picture for your reader. I felt as if I was there. So many great lines, but my favorite line is "all artist-drawn with softened shape". Very, very nice! Good luck in the contest. ~ ~ Connie

"Winter-scape in Blue" is an apt title for your poem. I particularly like your storm/wolves analogy. Some very well-chosen internal rhymes and occasional alliteration round out an excellent entry to the Color Blue poetry contest. Good luck!

Another winter poem I enjoyed, taking me back to fond memories of children whooping at a house trapped in a cystal glass, which they shake while I tell them what snow looks like, how it falls in swirls.
The turquoise sky, horizon met
as snow-globe shaken flakes still fell.
Stalwart thistles blue and brown
on leafless stalks stood in the dell.
And this took me the our winter holidays in a cabin in the fjords of Norway... I guess that says it all - excellent.
The cabin on the blue-tinged knoll
seemed lost and stranded nestled there
until one spied the chimney smoke
now swirling, curling in the air.

-I like the image.
-You have very good imagery,
rhyme, and effective use of the color blue.
-Your words create a word picture of the scenes:
"a breathless sapphire-blue landscape."
-You also have a good progression
and flow to your poem.
-Good luck in the contest.

This is quite a beautiful poem
with lush imagery of winter, once the snarling storm passed
But that's the way of winter and other storms
It seems nature tries to make amends for violence
by sprinkling beauty
Loved the blue-tinged winter images
the alliteration, rhymes and meter
Very well done
Best wishes in the contest

A beautiful poem that paints the landscape after a winter storm. Loved the comparison to storms as wolves and reference to a house in a snow globes. Visually stunning. Well done.

This poem brings together the wildness, the savagery of the storm, in that wolf image, and the peace and transfigurative landscape of the snow after its over. I liked how you personified the storm with that wolf image, and then the poem just mellowed out into a pastoral appreciation of the beauty of snow. estory
