When we are down and out, there is always someone offering help. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

God bless nurse. After suffering a heart attack it was the dedicated nurse who saw to my needs. My wife said I made a terrible patient, but the nurses put up with me.

Thank you for reading and then taking the time to review, your comments are greatly appreciated. LOL from experience the only patient that is worse than a cardiac patient is a doctor or another nurse. I am glad you are well.

Three of my closest friend became nurses and have served for many years as these guardian angels and helped their fellow men to get well, this is a great tribute to them, love Dolly x

The picture goes nicely with your poem. "The Nurse's Hat" tells of the history of hats. They used to be a way of telling one's status, but now they are gone away. We must be thankful, our nurse is hear. This is an amazing poem!

A very sweet and kind tribute. I was compelled to read when I saw the picture as I have worn and not worn that hat for 46 years. Thanks much for sharing and for the kind words about us old...and young girls.

Metrical ly and syllabicly free, this poem relies on its content and it's rhyming couplets to carry it throughosts which , for the most part they do.

However your second line is grammatically unsound. Effectively you are saying "did told" which is a non-existent construction. "Did tell" might work grammatically but you would lose the rhyme. I would cut the "did" out completely just leaving "told". After all you are not working to a set syllable count.

Historically you are completely accurate as far as the nurse's cap is concerned.

Thank you for reading and then taking the time to review and I appreciate your kind comments. I did not even think about the second line structure, but I do like your suggestion and will change it when done here, thanks.

Well, you can rest assured that I am very thankful for nurses, doctors, surgeons, psychologists, and anyone else I may have neglected to mention who is in the medical profession and has dedicated their lives for the sake of making others well and prosperous.
Can you imagine a world without them?
Why, it would be utter chaos!
Best of luck to you in the contest.

Bless the nurses for their dedication--with or without their hats. It is a calling that everyone appreciates. They do work very long hours and are the first line of help for patients and their families. An excellent entry into the contest. Marilyn

Hi MO, This is so nice and quite true. I remember my first day of my training and putting on the nurses cap ( 47 years ago) and was so proud to wear that. Yes we were handmaidens back then but the cap may be gone but the good nurses are still there and I am so proud to still be one. ( I still have one of my nurses caps and cape LOL ). Thanks for a good memory and best of luck in this contest. Loved the image Cheers Christine
