Benjamin is uncomfortable with the living situation so it was nice of Jane to show him how far away Shana's room was from Anderson's. However, they are still under one roof and as he stated, 'Modern ways are not our ways.'

Shana papa is a little skeptical of her living arrangements but he can argue that they aren't grand.
Emily is a cute character and steals the scene.

Then I realized several of the writes posted
really must make up just one chapter in the book.

Yes, three or four posts go into one chapter. I divide it up for easier read and more pumps on FS. That's why I label the parts. Thank you for the kind review.

I love the expression, "our ways are not the modern ways" very Jewish, but very sensible! Poor dad Benjamin, he doesn't like travel, but he's handing the niceties well, hasn't really been filled in yet, but a bit alarmed by the "divorcee" with small child, he'll work it out, it does complicate things however. Benjamin avoided eye contact. "I'm sure you know how it looks, don't you? You're staying alone with a divorced man."
Poor Emily. She might be coming to live with her father. It appears her mother is a woman of ill-repute:
"I've met her briefly. My first impression is that no child should be with that woman."

Oh yes, the strict Jewish traditions. I worked for three Orthodox Jewish Brothers for over 7 years. Best years of work ever. Nicest bosses.

Now I'm surprised they took her food since she is not orthodox or this is not kosher.

My research said they could eat corned beef on rye and long as it wasn't on the Sabbath. That was the point Philip was trying to slyly make in the previous post. Because she served Jeremy ham and cheese. Thank you for the kind review.
