I was thinking discovering stuff and being drawn toward cultures gives you lots of fodder for writing. In addition to finding your heritage did you ever consider maybe some of your leanings were related to past life experiences. This was very interesting thank you.

Hi there! What a neat attitude you have, June! And an interesting background too. Or rather, ancestry. So glad you've joined FS and I hope you will enjoy it here. Thank you for sharing with us! :)

A n interesting personal exploration of 'genes ' past here in this Haibun and what they unearth leading to poetic pastures new and a great pic to accompany

what a fabulous idea! I should have a DNA test done, as well. I want to find out if I do have gypsy blood. I feel gypsy so that is something. :) Good job, honey. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for the review. My husband found out he had Viking roots. So we both have seafaring genes. It's always enlightening to know our roots. You really should try it. Ancestry.com

A famous poem by Robert frost called the ROAD NOT TAKEN is a poem I love. The analogy is you reach a fork in the road in your journey of life and you have to make a decision which road to take. Knowing that whatever road you choose it will lead to another fork and another decision. Knowing you will never return to that original fork. There are things in life people only discover that they can achieve and do.
Nice inspirational write

I, too, was a bookworm and the shy one in all my classes but I never had that sense of adventure. I find it interesting that you have discovered where yours came from through the DNA testing. I think your Haibun is perfect for your story. I especially like ...leading to roads less traveled. It makes me think of Robert Frost's poem ....I chose the road less traveled and it made all the difference.

Yes, it's all about our choices in life - and where they lead us. I'm happy with the ones I made. And I thank you for your encouraging review.

A great contest entry. I entered two contests. The votes came in today. I won one and came in last in the other. It's hard to know what the readers will like.

You're absolutely right! It's all in the eyes of the beholder - or those who care enough to read and vote. Thanks for your encouraging review.
