Parallel Parking

Once again, I love the voice you have in your work. In this, not only is it likeable, it is really relatable. Parallel parking was very common in England, I can probably count on my hands the number of times I've had to do it here -and quickly discovered that I'm not as hot at it as I remembered!

feeling is mutual! Love your voice, too.
By the way, how do you like Chicago? And are you there for good?

A very well-written poem about the dreaded parallel parking trick. It is one of the requirements to obtain a driving licence. After we got our licence we avoid doing this manouver as far as we could.

thank you. It was all in fun. there are a couple of places I go fairly often where the only places to park are parallel, so I'm not quite as bad as my poem.

I can't accept the premise that anyone could have trouble pulling in to a parking space. Pulling in should not be this difficult.
I still don't understand "light in side mirror."
How do you "Back up, pull out a little to try again?"
Sorry. It is a little better but, I give up.

well, Bill, first of all, it was just in fun.. I can parallel park, but here are explanations, when the flashing lights went off in my side mirrors - as I said - new car new gadget - means you're too close to something on either side of you - , so "I" backed up -outside the car I'm tryig to get in front of and pulled a little to left then turned in again. does that clear it up?
also, when two cars don't leave much room for you to get between, It "ain't" that easy.

This made me laugh and reminds me of my attempts at parking! I'm back forth and sideways and almost hit the curb! What a great write, a great free verse, love Dollyx

Too funny. I love that all efforts were thwarted in the end, just as you "had it."
I cannot, will not, parallel park. I knew how once. Why bother? Just stay away from most metropolitan areas forever and ever....

If you think that is bad you should have seen me when I got my 68 Mustang convertible back from the restorer. It took a year to restore it and whenever I ventured out in it I would park as far from the store as possible so it would be alone and not get scratched. When I would return it was always surrounded by cars. Everyone wanted to look at it.

LOL! I know the feeling! Best thing about parallel parking a pick up truck - screw the curb. Drive over it, LOL! Seriously, though, well written piece does a good job meeting the prompt. I don't see anything that needs to be corrected.

I just loved your poem. It reminds me when I had the same problem - I got so frustrated I let a complete stranger get in and park my car for me. That was many years ago and I would not be game to do that today. I am not so trusting.
Best of luck with your poem.
