Patty, I enjoyed this free verse tribute to your husband. He is a very lucky man in having a loving devoted wife, but you my friend are also a lucky woman to have a man, husband that he is.

About your words, remember they are your words. You use them to express yourself in poetic form. I have never cared about what people have thought of my words. I enjoyed this poem very much. The both of you take care,,,,, ,Jim

Lovely picture of the both of you. For a free verse, there are still rhymes : begun/sun, goes/shows, hug/snug, night/sight/flight. You described your loving relationship well.

Thank you for stopping by to read and review. I have a habit of mixing rhymes in with my free verse. It is my version of the form,

Your poem is a great tribute to your hubby. I say let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave - because a good husband makes a good wife. Thanks for sharing.

This one walks the tightrope between rhymed poetry and the free-est of free verse and as such I find it really interesting. There are those who might say this has too much rhyme to be considered free verse, but the rhyme it has is never regular enough to be able to writhe a meaningful rhyme schem to and it is free as a bird as far as meter is concerned.

I don't know whether you are aware but I am running a class on Free verse here on Fanstory and you would be more than welcome to join it. Please don't think that I mean you need to learn what I might think it is but you views as one who writes free verse would be of great interest.

Dear Mustang Patty,

A warm cuddly poem to your husband. Your poem also contains good rhyming. I like how at the end your heart takes flight. If we just had more of that going on. (LOL)

Warm regards,

Winslow

"To early for the sun..." I enjoyed the joy you shared in hubbies arising before the sun to leave you in waited anticipation for his joyous return home, free for sure your verse was a work of the heart that needed no direction, well done.

'Tween morning and night,
His welcome is quite a sight.

The dogs bark a welcome,
I give him a hug
I've been lonesome,
But for now, I'm snug
In his arms for the night,
My heart takes flight' One of the sweetest and romantic poems without being corny that I have read....I know that feeling and it is wonderful, I think this is brilliant Patty xx

This is lovely, Patty. Twelve hour shifts, I'd get lonely too. Sweet that you're not alone in your happiness when hubby comes home. *woof* :)

"Coffee's on" are the most welcome words in the universe to me. haha

This is a really nice, clear image:
"Too early,
Even for the sun,"

Those early before-sunrise mornings suck. I did a 5:30 AM shift for several years, it's tough, especially in winter.

I like the free verse style with selective rhyme thrown. I write more free verse than form, but I enjoy reading and writing both.

Enjoyed your love poem, Patty. Congratulations on your long time commitment to each other.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. I appreciate your comments and encouragement. (Yes, the puppies keep me company, thank goodness! His shifts are only 10 hours, but the commute on both ends and lunch make it a 12 hour day.)

This is beautifully worded and a pleasure to read. It is always nice to read of marriages that are still happy after many years. Blessings for a good week. Patricia
