A tragic tale that occurs far too often in relationships and is pushed under the carpet and if it happens once, it continues. Your poem was full of suspense and held my interest until the very end, well rhymed with good flowing words albeit a sad story. Love Dolly x

Riveting post. Very hard to read, but I'm so glad I did. The word choices, the images you evoke, the horrors of this life, the death.... everyone should read this.
I have a friend...I HAD a friend...she has been missing for years. Her husband beat her and everyone in our writers' guild knew it, but she would never say so.
Then, she disappeared. She has never been found. But just 2 weeks ago her husband was finally arrested.
Hopefully, my friend finally spoke--through dna, through forensic evidence. Hopefully he will never be free again.

Oh, my gosh, that is terrible. I can't imagine having that happen to someone you know! To just disappear. I, too hope he never sees the light of day again. Hopefully he will someday say where she is. So sorry and thanks for reading and sharing.

Wow! What a story within a poem. Very very interesting and telling. Abuse is an ugly reality. One that I witness of my family member weekly. So fearful that the end result will be jail or death. Thank you for sharing.

The Last Closed Door takes us behind that barrier that society puts up to deny that spousal abuse happens. This poem has a double death conclusion that actually taps my need to avenge helpless victims with some 'you are gone' retribution.

Yeah, I gotta agree with ya here, Anonymous Poet.
The rhythm's rather choppy in this write. It reads more like prose, with rhyme.
Still, the message it conveys is a pertinent, and an important one.
