Amen. Whatever happened to respect for others opinions, to keeping the law, not breaking it because you're peeved? Whatever happened to common decency? A great poem, blessings...

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Your aab , ccb , ddb rhyming in the three stanzas is excellent. In fact 'grows from within' , 'explodes from within'and 'implodes from within' as the last lines of the three stanzas is brilliant. This short, incisive take on implosion must resonate with many citizens of your country. Coming from Africa I have had similar feelings!

It does seem that we are imploding. Natural born terrorists, police and possible perpetrators killing each other in revenge. I don't think any one speaking peace and acceptance should stop. There has to be someone giving sane advice.

In stanza one grows should be grown.

Keep writing

Hi Dragonpoet. Thank you for your nice review and comments. The word is correct with "grows" as this is an ongoing challenge for civil discourse between opposing viewpoints. As our civility unravels, hysteria continues to grow. I believe we are all in favor of expressing our opinions but not with violence, looting, burning or preventing others from speaking. One way freedom of speech isn't acceptable. Marilyn

You're welcome. I guess it is right. It sounded wrong when I read it the first time. But on second reading it seems ok.

I must admit I share your gloomy attitude about present times, Marilyn. The "hysteria" we see from the media EVERYDAY about possible leaks during the election onward and the so-called "fake news. Your poem succinctly explains why we should be concerned about the future. Rod

Thank you for your review of this one. Actually, Rod, I do believe in a biased media. It isn't impartial. Journalism is another thing that has gone the way of the dinosaur. The hysteria I'm referring to has to do with lack of civility in the expression of opposing viewpoints. There are many who demand free speech, but only for themselves. I think all countries through the ages have had their heyday and then self-destructed. No enemy had to do it--they did it to themselves with their own lack of tolerance. Marilyn

A terrific, concerned of the future poem.
It sure spoke truth and covered the importance
of the concern we should all have for this nation.

This has a rap like quality and I could have easily read on. I am sure the new president will be a source of conflict for many and I really hope that things will work out better than you envision.

Hi fimarie. Thank you for your review. My piece is about behavior. We have to all get along with each other and not be hateful to each other or our country won't survive. Rioting, destruction and nasty behavior doesn't solve anything.

This is an excellent entry for the 'Concerned about the future?' contest. I live in Canada, but have been following the U.S. political mess and unrest. I love your second stanza. It is bang on what is happening right now. "explodes from within" pretty much says it all.

Good luck in the contest! I think you may have a winner here!

This is a sad fact of life but it is the few who hate that makes it difficult for the rest of us. It takes two to tango but only one to throw the punch. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Thank you, dmt. No matter how we disagree with each other, we have to express our opinions without rioting and violence. We're all in the same boat.

You expressed your concern well. Good job on the rhymes & message. I like change that benefits, but the lawlessness is horrific. Those rioters etc. are nothing but criminals. They are not protesting for me. Good job with your contest entry. Best wishes.

A very well-written poem and a valid concern for the future of your country. One man alone cannot make a country better when the rest of the country are against him all the time.
