A fun and interesting read. I love the short sentences. It keeps the action moving fast. I especially enjoyed 'Up, down. Up, down. / Who knew?' LOL. Don't feel bad. I wouldn't have know either. But now I do! LOL. Nice work ... Best wishes in the contest! :)

thanks. and it seems things usually go wrong when you're trying to leave. was told today I need to get a new garage door opener since mine is over 20 yrs old. always something.

This reads a little jerky as you've skipped some prepositions to meet the word count I think (I push 'the' garage door/I pull 'the' cord).
It's a funny piece though.

to be on the safe side, I left my car out. will try garage door again tomorrow - in case it sticks again, can get hold of garage door people
