and writing for therapy. I'm sure you met many great friends

Wonderful poem with good rhyming and smoothness that made it easy to read. I can see why it received all-time best status. Have a wonderful evening. Shirley

Wonderful poem. I can feel your pain of losing your mate. I can feel your frustration with the sickness. Having a spirit that is cancer free is a wonderful thing to have to beat it. You have pour out your emotions well in this poem. It flows very well. It was an easy read to understand the meaning. Well done.

This was a good read, Jaybird1. I like your fighting spirit. The piece had a good flow to it and the rhymes made a good rhythm. Nice job and keep it up.

I came to the conclusion (reading your poem before the note) that this was not written by some cuckold, long before I got to the last stanza. There are many like yourself who have fought this beast and, again like yourself are still around to celebrate their victory. Long may it continue for you, sir.

Cancer is such a dreadful and dreaded disease. I am sorry for your loss and glad that you are still here. I enjoy reading your poems.

I too have been saddened by who cancer stole from me and my family...my beloved sister. I still cry sometimes because I miss her so much.

To start out with I am so sorry about your wife, that must have been so tough for you and then for you to have to suffer through it yourself also... You must be really strong. Your poem reflects that struggle and the sadness and pain behind it. I like how you funnel those feelings into the poem as your creative outlet. I really loved it.

Wow, Jaybird,
I like that you wrote this is 2002, twenty years after you lost your wife. It goes to show that some actually benefit from chemo. I had a good friend whose father decided to stop because it was killing him and when he stopped not long after he passed. I was amazed at her strength when he was still living as she did everything for her dad including trips in and out of showers and the toilet when he was still in the chemo phase and shortly afterward. He decided that it was a very grueling existence for both of them. He couldn't put her through it any longer. He wanted to just stop and accept his fate. I am in awe that now in this lifetime - and within recent years that someone else during these same years had a different experience. You are a very tough person to have survived. I give you lots of praise not only for having the constitution to do so but the bravery to continue to go on past your wife for all the years beyond her time here. I also know how difficult that must be. Thank you for writing this poem. Thank you for sharing this poem. Cheers, Fonda

Dang that's great that you beat it. Sorry about your wife though. Cancer sucks. I did chemo with my uncle last summer. It's crazy how they basically poison him and that helps. I havent gone with in a long time. You did a great job with this

Cancer is an awful disease, but some sufferers get lucky. You are a survivor and so is my daughter who had leukemia at the age of four and is almost twenty-four now.
Thanks for sharing your moving poem.
