Your poem is very sentimental. Lovely poem about your daughter. It's sad to think how fast our children grow and leave home. But when they return to visit they are always welcomed.

Hello Jay. Well, it's great that this story had a very happy ending. It's tough losing our kids from our homes at an early age, but thank God this one worked out for both of you. Take care...Bill

"Involved with marriage"? That's an interesting way to put it! My sister married at 19. Forty-five years later, she's still married. It works sometimes. I like the repeated and inverted lines in this one, but I was happy to read the postscript!

As they say, 'All's well that ends well.' It's not clear, however, that it ended well for your daughter. I hope she feels at home with custom drapery.

Thank you for adding the happy note about the past thirty-five years. You certainly captured the emotion of the challenging times you experienced. I admired your rhymed couplets in these rhythmic quatrains. Cheers- Joan

Excellent rhyme and lyrical flow in this verse, Jay. I thank you for letting us peek into your 1972 point of view. Your notes were the perfect thing to add to let us all breathe a sigh of relief. Great poem.

Sometimes children disappoint their parents by leaving home when they're really young--then later prove that they are, after all, "in cadence with life's rhyme." This is a great poem.

I'm so glad it worked out for you and your daughter. You have written a very emotional piece here, one i can relate to. My sister ran away from home at age 15, with a much older man. At the time we were mortified, at least my parents were. It worked out thoygh and they were married for 43 years. Thanks for sharing your experience.
