Your intriguing title and the dramatic artwork certainly captured my attention. I appreciated your true story and your use of dialog was very effective. The suspenseful storytelling described your "raw courage". I salute your being a fighter and "survivor". In awe- Joan

Thank you, Joan, how very sweet! I think I fought because I was too concussed to realize how injured I was, lol.
    Thank you!

I had no idea, Rhonda, that you had this accident and have been dealing with the recovery. You are absolutely so lucky. This is written with grit and emotion. The way you described putting your fist behind your neck not knowing if your neck was broken shows a presence of mind midst would not have faced with your situation. You had me at the title...lol.

Thank you so mush, Mary. Your review is touching and special.

I remember one of the paramedics, who turned out to be my husband's cousin, ask me if I could move my left arm, and I told him no. He asked why and I told him because my jaw would fall off. Of course he moved it. The fact is, my jaw had dropped down because of the multiple breaks, but I had no way of knowing it.

I asked one of my doctors how I knew to put my fist under my neck, and the other at my jaw when I was unconscious, and how I was aware of what was going on around me. He said it was some sort of instinct that coupled with medical training I had. I was in nursing school for two years, and worked in nursing homes for a while. It's strange, but he said the body takes over. It's also not uncommon for a person to be unconscious or in a coma and be aware of their surroundings.

I think what brought me around was Wayne trying to get someone to listen to him on the 911 calls.

Anyway, thanks for the review, and sorry for the super long response.

    Take care,
    Rhonda

Yes I found out about your predicament via someone else's concern, we were asked to pray, which of course I did...I think, normally that's the first thing I do. But it sounds horrific, I'm glad I'm not a cowgirl! But you're here, and of course God has plans, of which you're an integral part , dear Rhonda, well done, thanks for the story, well done, blessings, Roy

Roy, you were one of the ones I was talking about in the story. You were there for me all along. I knew you were praying, and I appreciated your support more than you'll ever know. Cat, Mike, and Fez were also there and giving me encouragement. Thank you.

so glad you made it through that. Wow. Those bulls can really pull a punch. You write about it with fun and humor but I am sure the pain you went through was no joke. Enjoyed your story.

You know, it's taken me a year to get to the point where I could look back and laugh. I've always meant to tell the story, but just couldn't because the memories were too painful. It took six month before they even finished all their procedures on me. But, all is well now!!!

    Thank you,
    Rhonda

Rhonda, this is such a gripping chapter from the part of your life I had no inkling existed. I'm sure it will resonate with the judges. I was so caught up in the narrative of your drama, I'm afraid I didn't do you the justice of a line-by-line review. So please accept this as from an awe-filled fan. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

Jay, my dear friend, I'm so glad to hear from you. I miss your writings.
Yeah, I had quite a miserable time there for a bit, but being on this site helped me heal. That may seem corny, but it's true. I could escape the pain and uncertainty by living in a virtual world.

    Thanks for reading and reviewing,
    Rhonda

Wow Rhonda, I had no idea you'd been through such an ordeal. You're very brave, and I would say, you've also been very lucky to come out of if the way you did. I've been around horses most of my life and do know how something bad can happen when handling big animals. I'm glad you're okay. Very well written. All the best. Ulla:)))

Thank you, Ulla. It's one of those situations I'm able to look back and laugh about now. Not so much at the time, though. I know you've been around horses a lot, and any large animal can be a big problem quickly. Crazy stuff.

    Thanks for the wonderful review,
    Rhonda

Hi Rhonda,
You did a swell job writing this story of that horrible incident. There is nothing worse than getting struck in the head. And by an angry bull I would think. Yes, you are lucky to be alive. I know of others who were not so lucky.
Well written. Best of luck in the contest.
Drew

Thank you, Drew, I do, too. One of them was a man I worked with. He was in an accident right before school started. He was a very important guy of campus and in the community. It affected all of us. I'm still having survivor's guilt over it. He still has young children. All of mine are grown.

Anyway, thank you so much for the review,
    Rhonda

Hi
this was a terrible accident to happen. I am glad you can write about it today.
Were you getting the bull ready for a bullfight?

A well written story.
Good luck in the contest.
Mary

Hi!
I'm a city boy but lived on a farm until I was 8 years old. I was delighted to leave the farm and join civilization!

That's a crap-load of agony you went through! Bless you! I can only imagine the pain and fear you endured. But we're delighted to have you here telling us about it.

If I may, I saw just one thing I thought might be worded slightly better: got them to roll back out of the back of my head

Could I suggest this: got them to roll from the back of my head

Good story and good storytelling. I enjoyed my read a lot! God Bless,

Alan

Rhonda, you're awesome!

Reading your story, I was amazed at what you went through and how resilient you were. You could have died from your injuries, yet you took control and toughed it out. Besides the writing describing this scenario, you rock. Good post and glad you survived.
