So, if you can't solve your problem right way up, turn either the problem or yourself upside down to get a different perspective on the matter. In other words, think outside the box. This little chap is certainly outside and wouldn't mind getting inside. There must be a way, how else would all those nuts have got in there?

An interesting new sonnet form variation. The enveloping rhyme and repeated lines make the form ideal for this content. I thought it was a kyrielle sonnet at first until I turned myself upside down.

Thank you Pantygynt. It actually is also known as a Kyrielle Sonnet. Or more correctly, a Kyrielle Sonnet is one form of an Echo Sonnet.

That is one healthy looking squirrel--his determination obviously pays off--and in your own backyard, no less! Thanks for demonstrating the Echo Sonnet form. I enjoyed your modified rhyme scheme, rhythm and repeats. Cheers- Joan

Treischell: I like your alliteration, rhymes, control of the beat and repeats.
Yes, this squirrel was after a tasty treat. What is there to eat in the winter?
We have fresh snow over ice. Walking is hard with dogs so I go around and
around in my yard. I feed the critters by the wood pile. Yes, they are fun to
watch. Stay warm! flylikeaneagle

Thank you Flylikeaneagle, it is harder to walk now. We check the paths at the park to see if they are plowed, otherwise we walk the skyways, the malls, or outside shopping centers that are shivelled and plowed.

Our daughters live in Denver. We will be with them in two weeks. Their weather has snow and then it melts. More sunny days in the mountains helps overcome depression. Writing is good therapy. There is so much to know and try new styles. Monica likes poetry. I told her she can write too. I bought them journals as a Christmas gift. God bless. Keep warm and safe. nancy

Great gifts. I loved the weather in Colorado, when I lived in Colorado Springs for 5 years,

Yes, I will share poets with Monica. Do you have favorites? I like Walt Whitman and e.e.cummings.
I gave Monica the book from Unspoken94. We will go to Celestrial Tea factory for a tour. Hope to see El Dorado mountains as I wrote about this in my novel. "The Cave," is based on this mountain. Terri is the girls' neighbor who does mountain climbing and said this is popular for climbing.
Stay warm. Do you walk inside the malls? I heard that the northern communities are being built up. Our area has 3000 people and most live on the farms. Enjoy your day. nancy

Hi Treischel,
this is a nice poem. Thank heavens for determination. Without the ability to work or fight for what we want in life we would all being wondering around aimlessly with no purpose or meaning to life. Determination gets us to where we want to be. That squirrel knew what he had to do succeed. What a clever chappie.

Very well thought out, though a bit hard to read with the small black letters on a olive drab background. It has the distinct expressions of a business manager - speaking of relevant thoughts more in a logical than a poetic way. This isn't necessarily bad, it is just the personality of the verses. Thanks for posting.

A very well-written echo sonnet. We sometimes give up too easily and then lose the battle. When we are determined in our efforts to find what we are looking for, we will find the prize at the end of the day no matter what it takes, never give up.
