Roast potatoes
The stress of cooking a Christmas meal62 total reviews

Preparing dinner for a large gathering certainly is not easy, and some kitchens would not be big enough for multiple participants in the tasks involved. Besides limited oven space, there likely is limited surface burner space and/or counter space for plug-in ovens or fryers capable of preparing fifty potatoes, all to be served hot. You convey the consequent quandary well, in addition to the comfort of a quieter celebration of four with time to consider the purpose of it all. Well done.

Your detailed comments are much appreciated. Not only has my friend a culinary problem but there is much friction within this large family.

You are welcome. You are blessed to have a more peaceful situation. If a family is large enough, there is bound to be friction somewhere, though it is a shame to let it spoil what should be a pleasant occasion.Anyway, enjoy your holidays. -- Mike

Roasted or baked potatoes are my favorite. So of course I liked your work here telling us a sweet story, very well in the season of Christmas. Food, delicious topic.

Thank you, Amanda. Have a blessed Christmas and , if you have one, put your diet on hold.

It's always a challenge to cater for the Xmas crowd at your place but you manage to somehow wangle it each time. I agree, be thankful you have people to celebrate with and give thoughts to the reason for the gathering in the first place.
SO many are alone at Christmas and would give their arm and leg most probably to sit at a table with family and friends...A unique little poem but with universal appeal. I love both Xmas AND spuds haha Well done!
Cheers P

Thank you for taking the time to write such a complimentary review. Happy Xmas.

Ok, the main reason I gave you six stars is because it was a unique topic. I was curious if it was based off of a true situation that you experienced. You did a good job of dropping in a hint. I also loved how you dropped in the true meaning of why we get together during the Christmas holiday.

Oh Dustin, you do me a great honour with this six star rating. It is like a Christmas present for me. Thank you so much.

I am glad you found this interesting. I shall follow up with my friend ( who is on another continent) to find out the fate of those potatoes.

Ha, ha. Forty people for dinner and all those potatoes. I love potatoes but that's a lot to cook. Even cooking for four people is too many for me nowadays. Good poem and I love the ending. Marilyn

Marilyn, your comments are much appreciated. Even with only 4 for dinner I am doing as much forward planning as possible. My husband and I are a little challenged.....I am on crutches and he is recovering from a fractured humerus! Happy Christmas to you.

Oh my goodness. That is beyond the call of duty. I wish you both good luck with your dinner party and a very Merry Christmas. Marilyn

And a happy Christmas to you too Marilyn

This is a clever, witty poem with a thought provoking end. It flows well and I see no nits. I envision the harried cooking for a Christmas dinner and in the midst, Giving some thought to that Babe in the stable. Good writing.

After a long conversation with my friend on Skype and sensing her tension, my muse stepped in. Thank you for a great review, Patricia. I wish you a blessed Christmas.

I love potatoes in most forms but roasted potatoes are probably my favorite. Cooking for Christmas and/or for a crowd can be daunting.
I enjoyed your Christmas poem and good luck in the contest.
Blessings

Cooking potatoes with the skin on is my favorite way. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read. There is good imagery.
