A rather different Christmas poem but a fun one to read. Your verse certainly demonstrates there are many ways to display the spirit of the season. The image is perfect. I think i'm going to change my dinner menu tonight.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. Thanks for a great holiday poem.

    Thank you Bill. You have made a good point there. People often say they will start their diet after New Year but of course do not.

They need extra ovens and microwaves, and good neighbors, lol. I enjoyed this entry, especially the last line. That's what Christmas is all about. And a small group around the table is ideal. I wish you the best of luck in this contest, and Happy Holidays. . .Sharon

Hi Persevere - an interesting poem, well written, and a nightmare when I think about it. Cooking for that many people would certainly keep me awake. I thought at first it was you, but I see it is a friend who has that task. She has my sympathy. The picture made my mouth water LOL. This poem, Roast Potatoes, is funny in how it shows how we get lost in the fixing and sometimes lose sight of what we are glad for. The holiday brings people together and that is good in whatever conditions we find ourselves.

An amusing poem, though perhaps not quite so amusing for the poor cooks! I had a bit of a chuckle at your own rather less frenetic celebration of the birth of that "Babe in the stable".

Cooking for Christmas day depending on the amount of people you are cooking for can be hectic indeed hope all goes well for you,

    Thank you for your review. I am sure all will go well with my cooking for 4 people but the outcome could be a little different for my friend.

That is a cute poem. Cooking for 40 must be a chore (lol) whether it is a real event or fiction in this context. The rhyming is slightly forced in my opinion, but I didn't want to deduct for that.

Darling and unusual response to the Christmas poetry prompt. It is so cute and true huge gatherings can cause so much anxiety. But they are such fun and worth it. Enjoyed your poem.
