The objective correlative of the poem epitomises the tawny owl's dislike of itself.

The work highlights the extent of the tawny owl's dislike of its colour,which shamefacedly limits its assessment of itself to a mere glance,while cherishing and spending all his thought processes on a lark.

The work derives its texure through its strict adherence to its tanka format.
